This is the kind of player we should get as a free agent. Again... It means he plays his last game under this contract as a 31 year old, not 32. You know, the same age Lake arrived at Hawthorn. 4 Quote

Should be totally invested, unlike the other bloke who chose to leave. He also fills a need and comes ready-made and in his prime. Factor in KK who could be an insta-winger if his health issues are sorted, and we have added depth as well. These 2 want success with us whereas Hogan didn't care enough to stay. Thats a win as far as im concerned. Insightful comment Ding. Good post Hogan re-signed for 3 years 2 years ago with the undertone that the club has 3 years to prove itself worthy of him committing further or he's off. Well the Dees did in spades after 2 years and are now equal 2nd flag favourite in 2019. What more could they have done. Yet he's still off to Perth and that smacks of insincerity and investment to me. But given his recent history the move can be seen as understandable and I wish him well. But we now have a premiership defence and Weid was always earmarked for a KPP role. Roll on 2019 ( and we still kept AVB whom I love even if he can't kick sometimes) 1 Quote

The question has often been Oscar or Frost. My answer is neither. Give me May, Lever and a 3rd tall option depending on match ups that could be Oscar or just as likely could be Hibberd or Joel Smith. Dr. Gonzo 24,468 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 (edited) Salivating at the thought of what May will bring to this team. From our last game if you add Lever and May in for J Smith and Frost we look far stronger already. Hopefully he'll nullify some of those key forwards who tend to kill us over the years. Just this past year Cox, Hawkins and even Dixon/Westhoff caused us big headaches. Frost did well but still always have heart in mouth when he's got the footy coming out of defense. Now, need to find a new avatar... Edited October 17, 2018 by Dr. Gonzo 3 Quote
P-man 13,367 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Super pumped we’ve got him. We all know what he brings on the field but seems a really down to earth guy off it as well. Obviously as an ex captain he also brings strong leadership qualities and he more than paid his dues at the rabble that is the Gold Coast so he knows how to knuckle down. Another 6 or 7 years of Lever and May marshalling the backline sounds pretty tasty to me. 5 Quote
Purple77 1,026 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Hmm, jury is out for mine. But, you'll have my support, and thousands of others; something May hasn't had before. Quote
Big Demon 197 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 May is a terrific in, along with Davis they look to be the two new gun Gorilla stoppers and we desperately need that having been smashed by the Hawkins, Darling and Kennedy types in matches when it counted. Oscar will be a depth player back as Casey and lets not forget about Lever, our genius intercept player will return next year with a serious large key defender beside him like a Talia when he played his best football at the Crows. Lever. May. Jetta. Hibberd. Meanwhile, when do we play Fremantle? Because you'd bank as a certainty that Hogan and May will line up on eachother. We've got nobody else who could match up on the likes of Hogan. Which I daresay is right on the whole point of why we got May. ????????? With a stronger defensive group built over the past 3 years, we've now got an ability to be more offensive and play Salem and even Kolodjashnij back there. I'm sure it's a bit of a dream for Goody. We've assembled a formidable group back there now. Obviously, Frost vs Oscar for the extra KPB spot where required too - clearly the weak link, but David Astbury played in a premiership. Injuries permitting, we've strengthened our defence better than any other team in the comp over a 3 year period. Edited October 17, 2018 by A F 2 Quote

Pates 9,697 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 (edited) Welcome to the MFC May! Sures up our defence (which was a definite weakness last year) and creates a massive competition for the third tall spot in the 22. Defensively I think Oscar is better than Frost, but Frost offers run out and an extra dynamic. Just as another side thought to all this, with Hogan moved on I have constantly heard that in his youth days Oscar was a forward. Could we see him become a swing man? Anyway best of luck to you May, try not to get suspended too much. You’ve got something to play for now! Edited October 17, 2018 by Pates Quote
WERRIDEE 5,643 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Fantastic get will be a pillar of our backline for many years. Good luck Steve? Quote
KingDingAling 3,758 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 I am not over the moon about May, I will admit. But, at the same time, we did pick the eyes out of last years draft (somehow), and we aren't exactly in dire need for pick 6. So we get May, KK and 23. I am a big wrap for KK. Worried about concussions, but he could still be anything, and could play on the wing or rotate with Salem and Fritsch anywhere from wing to back flank and even midfield. Its a good get. Pick 23 is a good pick in the hands of Jason Taylor. He picked Fritsch and Spargo last year, and they would both clearly go higher if that draft was re-done again today. We looked after Hogan with this trade. I think that leaves the door open for a return should things go pear shape for him in WA. Quote
