WOW!  No way Lever would stay at Crows after that.

Not happy campers going into the GF.

That mood may have contributed to the reported infighting during the second quarter and their lack of effort.

Shame the team didn't play as well as Lever did - they might have a Premiership Cup.

If reports are believed, they began to turn on each other at half time. This team had a pre game segment about how open they're to each other and how no team is as close. [censored] joke, you stick by your teammates to the end.

The recently retired former Demon and Crow Scott Thompson would like to say "hello" to everybody.

I already posted that WJ, but good to see we think alike.

TMac will surely play the Watts role, which both terrifies and excites me.

I actually reckon he will play more of a traditional full forward, leading out of the goal square, using his strong marking ability. Hogan to play the Watts role further up the ground. Realistically they could both play each role at various times though, particularly given both have a good tank.

I know one bloke that will be terrified, a big full forward that has a player that can hit him lace out going to a bloke that can't hit a target except if he is kicking a goal

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the Geelong model?

I thought the Geelong model was no one earns more than the Captain??

2 x A grade midfielders.

Hope everybody else plays a role on the day.

Jed sounded pretty reasonable.... from our side anyway. But I can imagine the day when a hogan or petracca or Oliver walks and we will all be wanting overs. Its the way the game is evolving isnt it.

I do Feel [censored] off that Jake was attacked by Burton and Walker tho. Unfortunately all that does, in this day and age, is make Adelaide a less attractive destination for interstate players and turn them into utter hyprocrits the next time someone comes their way. Hoping none of it impacts Jake too badly and he's welcomed into our team , as it seems like he's been super upfront about things w everyone.

I would be horrified if the Melbourne footy club handled a situation like this with as little class and as much bitterness as the crows have.

I view it as being extremely unprofessional. You’d have to think Bryce Gibbs would think twice about going there if this is how they treat their players.

I'd advise you not to look in the Jack Watts thread....

Ignore all the $amounts being bandied about MFC have adopted the Geelong model on pay

With Lever choosing Melbourne as his destination Club, the rolling effect this (in my opinion) will have on us as a really strong choice is stark. The last two Premiership Teams had outstanding performers in their teams on the Day that were acquired the same year.

If the Cat model is basically about equality or not these movements are really working for us now.

Levers Manager Guy has just been announced as Collingwoods new list manager.

Surely there is a conflict of interest in poaching his current clients to his new club.

He won't be involved in anything at Collingwood until after this trade period. Guy has already said Lever is at the MFC. Not too much to worry about.

And he said top ten draft picks should stay 4 years minimum, to avert the Lever drama.

Lever was pick 14 Derwayne.

No they may be right, pick 27 only then.....

And those same fans will be screaming for 2 top 5 picks for Lever.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
