Brief wrap-up on the AFL site - 'Around the State Leagues' in the Don't Miss section. Not much else to add/no mention of Frost.

Casey Demons v Williamstown - Saturday, March 25, 11.30am, Casey Fields

Midfielder Dom Tyson accumulated 24 possessions, 16 inside 50s and kicked two goals in the Demons' 36-point win.

Casey coach Justin Plapp told AFL.com.au that Tyson "performed really strongly" in his third game back from a knee injury.

"He's had a delayed start because of injury … so he's going through the process of building time and we were really happy with his performance," Plapp said.

Ruckman Jake Spencer (28 hit-outs, 10 disposals) and Dean Kent (20 disposals) were other notable standouts in the VFL practice match win.

So, anyone who was there, do Tyson and Kent look the likely replacements this week v Carltank?

Thought I read somewhere that Tyson had a big final quarter?

Hey Drunkn167, any idea where and when this weeks Casey Practice Match is?

Saturday at Casey Fields vs Box Hill
I won't be able to attend this one either as I'm playing my Round 1 game for my local league Saturday, hopefully someone can go and give a report this time.

This gives some clues mono:  Trio in the mix for call-up

Tyson and Harmes likely to get a call up imo.

Foxfooty calling for Wagner to come into the side, but I dont think he played?

No, he didn't.  And for anyone coming back from a two week or longer layoff, other than the half dozen or so most senior players, I think a return via Casey will be the norm this season, unless the injury count grows.  So Harmes, Tyson and Kent are in the mix, but not Frost and not Wagner.  And since it's a squad for a Sunday match, Spencer and Bugg will come in to the squad as well.  My tip is it's Tyson plus one of Harmes or Bugg that will get the nod

For mine Bugg, Tyson and Kent are the first in line from last week's game.  Bugg didn't play as the holdover emergency but was pretty good in the JLT and was unlucky to miss out. Spencer did enough and could also come in if we decide to switch up to 2 rucks.

It's really hard to judge the AFL players against VFL players in practice matches as they are very different stages of preseason. I noticed that the AFL listed pushing for selection played almost 90%+ gametime trying show fitness for the AFL.

The game was played at a lower intensity due to the heat and heavy rotations. No one dominated but Tyson and Kent proved their fitness by domimating the last.  Kent made a few errors but was very physical in putting pressure and made a couple of big tackles.

Ben Kennedy played the full game and was OK, Trengrove looked good and is suddenly a good kick on his left.

Also the next pure key forward in for me is Tim Smith - the Bull looks leaner and fitter and would be he happy for him to come into the afl side at some stage during the year.

Trio in the mix for callup

"MIDFIELDER Dom Tyson, forward Dean Kent and utility James Harmes are pushing their claims for AFL selection after strong form for Casey last weekend.

Casey Demons coach Justin Plapp said the trio performed strongly in a VFL practice match against Williamstown at Casey Fields last Saturday, and were making their case for a round two call-up against Carlton at the MCG on Sunday."

I'm sure this is a mistake not a dig at him? What's the issue with White I wonder? He could have put himself in a position to get a few early games and isn't listed in the injury report, maybe I've missed something.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
