Grown on me too, not sure what all the hoohar was about. Still, I wish we didnt require them at all...like Collingwood.

play like they did saturday couldn't give a fig what they wear....

Pink tutus with lime green leotards would look good and wouldn't care. Play like crap though and every minute detail is picked over... the red had a pinkish hue... the blue isn't dark enought, too purply..... etc etc.

For now its good

I was at the ground Sat night and in the third quarter I had the words "white hot" going through my head over and over. In between screaming incoherently and upsetting the nice Crows fans.

It was one of those games where I could actually* feel the intensity of the guys attitude. I reckon the away strip might fire them up now.

*no, seriously, it was an energy field!

they got it right finally against the dogs. the white one just enhances any clash with the dogs. Pretty bloody happy with the red back jumper

I like the idea of simply inverting our home jumper as the best way to maintain our brand identity and tradition, whilst satisfying the AFL rules. West Coast and Richmond have both followed that path, and I reckon their clash jumpers look smart, whilst maintaining their brand identity.

You wouldn't be able to read the numbers, white is fine.

And then I couldn't call out with great gusto, go number 4, good stuff number 2 and that number 13s quite tough isn't he ?

I'm sure NBN (that looks familiar Naughty But Neitz) could show how well the alternatives would look

We played in it against the saints and it worked a treat there. Now they get to sing about the red and blue and for to actually be true!

Easily the best alternative we've ever had.

I really think the club needs to think about doing away with the current white one...HUGE hypothetical. .but if we were asked to wear that in a Grand Final, how would you feel? Like others said, the red Vs Dogs oozed great, I don't know why we don't just do the same with a white back. There are your three clash strips. Better get to it MFC, we need to be ready to wear a white Jersey if we happen to play Adelaide, GWS, Essendon in this year's Grand Final :P

Red back clash I'd definitely the way to go over white and I'm certainly glad we wore it on Sunday Vs the dogs, but was watching the replay last night and whenever a Melbourne player faced the camera front on I was left thinking - where was the clash between our traditional jumper and the Bulldogs current home jumper in the first place.  There is a huge contrast between the royal and navy blue and I really think this shows the way for other dark jumpers against which our traditional jumper, it's either navy blue V on red or red V on royal blue ar la 80s retro, none of this white crap.  I fear we will wear our white jumper this comming week against the Method Coast and I will cringe and convolse at the sight of it.

Totally agree.  Our boys will have to run off the 'G' after the final siren, and change into our proper colours before the premiership medal presentations team photos.

I know we are getting way ahead of ourselves, but it would be the most dissapointing thing to see, if we had to wear that training singlet in any final. There is a way around it, and that way is to copy the red back but to make it WHITE. The front stays the same. If I were the MFC, I would be getting NB to start knocking them up now.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
