It's going to be fun watching the rest of the comp cotton on to how good Salem actually is. Often dismissed as steak knives in the Tyson deal. He's gonna shock a few.

At the ground where we just kicked into the wind. Was howling when Wieds took his kick hence the poor trajectory.

Positives:

- Smith is a player

- Salem is all class and involved a lot

- Jones and Viney involved in everything

- VB Cans only $5

- Trac and Bradshaw both busy

Negatives

- too Hogan conscious in the first quarter

- need some beater kicks and not bombing going inside 50

- easy goals from WB from half forward

- TMac having a pretty sour game so far

At least you are spared the commentary team fawning over Cloke and the Doggies. You wouldn't know the Dees were playing.

Joel Smith would have to be pretty happy with his first half! I'm excited!

Interesting to see Salem being all about contested possessions and handballs, working in the middle.

If I let myself hype, Sam Weidemann sounds like he might be a useful mark-kick-goal-repeat player for us, while Hogan roams wild.

Saw Wagner on crutches. Did they give an update?

Not yet, although crutches doesn't fill you with confidence.  Hopefully they're just doing it as a precaution.

yes, they're not saying knee or ankle, but possibly something with the fibula.

His knee was strapped wasn't it? That precludes ankle.

i'll say it again - brayshaw is a very poor kick who regularly misses targets.

under no pressure we had an easy 50 entry and brayshaw turned it over - and they got a goal as a result

That's what happens when you drop the ball from just below your chin.

Umps very quick to call holding/dropping ball to us. Not so quick the other way.

That's what happens when you're playing the "better" team. and they're the premiers on top of that. Get used to it.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
