Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Maybe he should retire prior to the draft if that is the case! As it is, he is taking the place of either a potential recruit or a loyal servant such as Grimes who we have delisted (but who still played a valuable role at Casey)!

Any reason as to why Grimes can't become a Casey listed played?

How have the lads reacted to Lord Lewis's presence ?

Got along to training today, obviously warm blustery conditions.  As already noted, no Lumumba.  No Garlett either.  Everyone else appeared to be there and were either in the rehab group or the main group (with some rotating between, depending on the nature of their injuries).  Some random observations:

- Petracca already looks leaner, particularly his upper body

- Hogan and Brayshaw continue to impress (as was noted in previous sessions)

- there is a significant focus on non-preferred foot skills

- the ground was segmented into three sections longitudinally with lines running end to end from about a metre either side of each point post.  Not clear what role this played in the drills I observed

- Lewis is already vocal (eg imploring those in a group that ran 4/5 fast laps to stand up at the completion and not hunch over)

- Melksham trained with the main group, Hibberd with the rehab

- other rehab group participants (not exhaustive) were Stretch, VDB, Viney, TMAC, Pedersen, Oliver, JKH, Trengove (running laps), King

- the skill sessions were mixed - a bit difficult to be fair as conditions were atrocious.  Harms and Neal-Bullen (in particular) have some residual challenges around their disposal

Will revert with more if anything else comes to mind.

thats what I wanted to see...

cheers

Gee whizz - where on earth did all that come from ? quoting the MFC release ( which i haven't seen) - he has lingering issues from concussion - you have taken the leap to unacceptable disruption and haul before the leadership group and law down law and taking things inot his hands and not accepting the club position !

( I too am skeptical about H playing another game but until I hear otherwise I will accept the official line that he has ongoing concussion issues)

I'm glad to read that, I've found it astounding the last few seasons seeing young players all over the league kicking a checkside to pass the ball where a left foot kick should have been used.

Cuts down options when a player refuses to use his non preferred - I long for days when we argued about which was Robbie Flowers non preferred foot as you seriously could not tell

Hope he paid for it :pj:

To those that were there, it was mentioned that there is non preffered focus, is that to say they are using the non preferred in all drills then switching to preferred or just flat out only non?

In regards to H, I played with a fella who got a couple of successive head knocks, had terrible headaches for over a year, wasn't allowed to drive and was never allowed to play again. I could totally understand if H was still feeling the efdects

Can't tell with Brayshaw either - superb kick with either foot.

You could tell with him from Game One, to where he ran etc, not afraid to go either way to evade and kick.

Not sure there are many saying he does not have a problem steve.

This is the AFL world where winning is everything.

If he has a real problem then sadly he should be off the list and looked after as an x player who needs medical help into the future.

Simply leaving him on the list serves no one well.

So does this mean the clubs, or the AFL's concussion testing procedure is still lacking?

If Lumumba is still looking for answers for symptoms he's still experiencing then I'm really surprised by that - the fact they've passed all tests thus far.

Really?

Josh Mahoney today:

"We have been very diligent with our concussion management and we are supportive of Heritier gathering this information."

...the Demons say a delayed start to training is of no concern.

Sure I'm concerned that H may retire soon or may not play for the club again or that we could possibly fill that spot with a DFA, yadda yadda....

But I'd be more concerned if we played him and and he did even more damage. Both the player and the club must feel satisfied with the medical outcome. The club is supportive, which is the key word IMO.

Thanks to those on the ground for more great training reports. Love the lace out comment by Lewis.

That line reads in normal speak as " we have to say this so we don't get sued for not taking care of him" .

And when was the last time we believed any FD when they are trying to find a way out.

When Clark was going through his process all we heard was he will be back when over his injuries.

Then a pay out is announced.

Am I a cynic?

Yes

He clearly is over AFL football dc.

Work out a deal for him to go now before the trade period.

That is the best option IMO.

He leaves we then have another draft spot, anyone at this point is going to be more useful than I guy who clearly does not want to play.

No, it's not clear at all; it's the opposite. It's more likely he is hanging in there because he wants to play but someone is being responsible.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
