Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hawthorn clearly looking out for the future here and making a shrewd decision which will pay off long term. However, you can't replace a Sam Mitchell or a Luke Hodge. They are generational players.

Yep, can't replace them with identical players, but one way or another they're leaving soon and better to replace them with two really talented kids than two speculative late draft picks.

Read what I said Stuie, too many players for too long.

Ok, so you think they should keep Mitchell for one more year, miss out on O'Meara and possibly Tom Mitchell as well and then have nothing when he retires...

Good plan.

So you think the plan all along, was for Clarkson to give Mitchell the shove and the pick they get from West Coast for him would be enough to satisfy both Sydney and Gold Coast? What a genius.

What's happened to that rumour? Has it gained any legs? Lewis is a sniper, but I'd take him for a year or two and then as a coach.

I doubt they'd let both Mitchell and Lewis go in the one year.

Maybe it was one or the other?

Who knows.

I don't know how anyone can think this is good for Hawthorn. It looks like they will lose their best and fairest, who was on a low wage contract, for a low draft pick. And at a time while they are in the premiership window. It could well cost them a flag.

Because Mitchell was always likely to retire next year so they are able to bring O'Meara and Mitchell in.

Makes sense.

Interesting that Brad Crouch is being discussed by AFL.com.au as a possible swap for Gibbs. Would improve their midfield immediately.

Carlton would be grinning at that. Especially at the age bracket.

As much as I enjoy everyones conversation and discussion topics here, we haven't had anyone (Or I havent seen) anyone do some really nice Hans Christian Andersen work and engineer a story here about how it is advantageous to us Demons...

I'll start...I think Jordan Lewis will come to us in a similar deal.

They should ship off a lesser player for a draft pick if they need the cap space. As I said, Hawthorn are in the premiership window and this makes them worse. The pick they get for Sam Mitchell won't be enough to help them get O'Meara and Tom Mitchell.

This 'Trade Whisperer' account on Twitter is absolutely hilarious to follow. He bans everyone who questions his posts and has the maturity of an 8 year old. Don't know the validity of his claims and sources, but for what it's worth...

What would Mahoney even be talking about with other clubs this week?

Surely he can't spend the whole of trade period discussion whether Hibberd goes for a 2016 or a 2017 second rounder.

Must be more brewing...

That's already been rumoured, many pages back.

Weideman re-signs :)

Huh? That's not the news I just read...

Via the AFL trade updates page:

A SAM WEIDEMAN UPDATE

The young Melbourne key forward kicked two goals on debut against Hawthorn as the Demons came away with an upset win to have supporters excited. With Jesse Hogan having recommitted to the club until the end of 2019, Melbourne will have a couple of tall targets in attack over the next few years.

According to his manager Ben Williams, Weideman will target playing about 15 games next year. Last year's No. 9 pick needs to put on weight, but that has to be gradual so he doesn't break down. An iron deficiency also made it harder for him to become heavier.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
