Would definately take Dear, wouldn't cost much either.

Hope he's a big jumper, coz at 197cm, he's not exactly towering over other ruckman (though Jamar was only 198cm himself)

ANB out & Dear in perhaps?

He's more a forward who can ruck than a ruck who can go forward, only 20, I saw highlights of him kicking 6 or 7 in a SNFL match this season, strong competitior with a tough streak. Not sure of his worth, dont think Adelaide would ask for more than a 4th rounder if he was set on leaving

A first rounder and a second rounder for Tom Rockliff? Has the world gone mad?

I'd be bitterly disappointed. Particularly given our recent drafting performance.

Put simply, I'd back a 'Jason Taylor' rnd 1 and rnd 2 combo ahead of a $700,000+ jar of fig jam.

From the DTTalk twitter account:

"There could be a big man joining the Demons that many wouldn't have 'Tipped'... as if he was moving, he could have gone further north. #hmm"

I wouldn't read anything into it. They have now asked Trade Whisperer if it is true. Harley said 2 days ago Tippett is not on the trade table at all.

Thats not the rumoured trade..  we would also get pick 19 and a pick in the 30's.  We are basically swapping our first and 2nd rounders next season for pick 19 and 35? this season.. plus we get Rockliff.

A bargain for us, if it is true of course.

Shhh I told him I wouldn't tell. ?

And so you just posted it on a fan site on the internet for the whole world to see with information that indicates exactly who your sources are with 2 minutes on google?  If this deal is real why would you post it now?  Why wouldn't you just calmly sit back and wait for it to happen?  Do you think it makes any difference if we know now or in 6 days?

Just FTR I don't believe you.  I'm not saying it won't happen but I don't believe this information.  I think you're making an educated guess and if it happens you'll be an internet hero and if it doesn't you'll come on here with a story of why it fell over.  Believe me if you've got previous form (and I don't know if you have) there is not one footy person who would speak to you if they knew you put their confidential information on an internet site.

So my conclusion is that you're either a loose cannon with confidential information and no respect for those that gave it to you or you're a troll seeking some sort of notoriety from a bunch of wackers (and I include myself) on an internet site.  Great options aren't they!:o

Absolute can not believe the news I've got this morning.

Brisbane and Melbourne have agreed on handshake that rockliff will come to Melbourne for Dunn. We will give our first rounder for next year to Brisbane (which we bank on being 9-13) for Brisbane priority pick this year (19) as well as turning our second round pick (29) into a pick in mid 30s, which Brisbane are trying to get their hands on before end of trade week.

This is also delaying the Hibberd deal.

Brisbane will pay a portion of the salary. The only things holding this deal up are Brisbane not having a mid 30s pick yet, and rockliff not having results from a medical back yet.

Melbourne in- rockliff, end of round 1 pick (19); mid 30s pick.

Out, Dunn, 2017 Rd 1 pick (9-13) 2016 Rd 2 pick) 29

Source- both the new Brisbane football operations manager; and my uncle, fitzroy great, Brisbane scout and father of current afl captain. Oh and for any sceptics which I'm sure there are, this is out of the mouth of both.

An issue with this is that if you trade a future 1st round pick you can't trade any other picks from that draft.

So by doing the deal as stated we'd need to trade the picks we get from this draft ie. pick 19 and/or the mid 30's pick and/or player(s) to get Hibberd.

Not sure if that qualifies as poster abuse which would normally qualify for a warning under our Code of Conduct ? but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since I agree with the point you're making about the suggested deal.

Firstly, it's poor form to disclose one's sources with information of such a delicate nature and it would have been much better for both you and the others involved (if the story is true) to keep their identities out of it - as VP said it's doubtful you'll be trusted with that sort of information again. You could still have told the story by suggesting a trade was happening and nothing more.

Secondly, as a few posters have indicated, there is a definite query over Rockliff's character as a result of what's happened at the club he captains this year. I'm not that sure we would take him at all now (and initially, I was all in favour).

Pretty bizarre trade period if we land Hibberd, Rockliff and Lewis.

I'm not sure what to make of it actually.

Interesting also that there has been no mention anywhere of us being interested in any backup for Gawn which imo is our most pressing need.

Clearly still not a destination club though.

That's true and I think that's about the same time AVB was mentioed as part of the Hibberd trade.

Could we use this mid 30s pick plus AVB for Hibberd and Orazio? He was also mentioned earlier in the week as someone we'd been looking at. I have no idea what he's worth but I like the way his form is moving.

Fantasia is worth a high 2nd if not a late 1st, he's a serious talent and probably untouchable. I highly doubt that rumour has any truth in it.

Mid 30's + AVB for Hibberd and an early 4th would probably more like it.

Fair point on OF. Anything could happen with this Hibberd trade. I can see it being the last domino if all these other rumours are true (and come good).

MIckey you may be mature enough to deal with this sort of rumour and you might like reading fantasy but the problem is a lot of people will take this to heart and be bitterly disappointed when it doesn't happen while the purp will run around having a good old belly laugh having sucked everybody in.

I'll tell you something.  Rockliff might come to Melbourne or he might not.  But don't put your hopes in the post of GD because it sits alongside the Harry Potter books.

And if you really want rumours I'll send you a PM full of them and you can get your jollies that way.

A little hypocritical don't you think?

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
