I'll lay it on the line and say I reckon we've got him.

Would be very hard to look across the change room as a Premiership player and there's that uncoordinated clown Vickery on more coin than you. Bridge too far.

Imagine! I would be livid if I had been working in my role, built this incredibly successful work team, took less money than elsewhere to make sure we succeeded.... then once we had done it my employer went out and employed peanuts on more money than me.

I would leave without a doubt.

such dealings arent unique to football. Similar silliness can happen in the normal world of business. People often make decisive comments with their feet ( walking )

It would depend on whether a coaching appointment in the future was offered too. Maybe that's why Lewis is [censored] off. Not only told he'll be traded, but not offered the captaincy or coaching opportunity. I think Lewis & Mitchell both have two years left and could be seen as in an identical predicament. So we haven't heard anything about Clarko offering Lewis future coaching opportunity at another club or back at Hawthorn, like we heard with Mitchell. Mitchell has the body type to easily play two more years imo, So age difference 30-34 is not as significant as it may appear.

Would Vince hold his spot in 22 with Lewis around?

I think Melksham and Hibberd are the threats to Vince playing half back or wing. He's not a lock for best 22 unless his kicking becomes more reliable and his running holds up.

If we get him Lewis probably slots in the midfield with Jones, Tyson, Viney, Oliver and keeps Petracca and Brayshaw forward. Although I imagine Lewis playing a fair bit of wing, forward and back as a utility if the younger mids stand up.

Got to love trade week (s) ; the feverish dealings, the intrigue, the anticipation, the surprise.  It's a cornucopia of football shenanigans all rolled into one big nap.

So, we done anything yet ?

Depends what you get for him.  Had an average year, can play but is one of those players that you can see on the fringe of our best 22.

The name given to a great movie about the failed WWII Operation Market Garden.

If successful it might have ended the war by Christmas 1944.... the Allies would probably have beaten the Russians to Berlin.... the Cold War would have been very different from a geographical standpoint.

Relevance to the Dees landing Lewis..... probably none but a nice diversion !!

Can't say I care one way or the other if we get him...

But if it helps Hawthorn implode then I'm all for whatever spanners we can throw into the machine

There is already a Spangher in the machine.

Sorry you don't get the choice when the above happens it's called forced redundancy

If FD see Lewis adding something to the team and we get him,  cool, if we don't, move on

I must learn about that. Berlin would also be a different city and Germany a different country if the allies had reached Berlin first. The vengeance wreaked by the Russians on Berliners is mid blowing. I love Berlin by the by.

Crucial trade:

Hawthorn receive picks 10 & 68 from the Saints, in exchange for picks 23, 36 and a 2017 1st Round Draft Pick

Soviets not Russians... and it was actually pretty mild by the standards of the day...

Question being... would you trade out Hitler and #14 for a young Stalin?

Not a whisper, but a question, well two. Has the Prestia deal to Toiges been done ? If not why the hold up...now ?

bonus question. Would we still want him if a steal could be done ?

1. No, the Suns want pick 6 straight up, the Tigers want Dion and a pick in the 20's for pick 6 and aren't budging.

i think eventually it will get done for pick 6 and maybe a later pick.

our offer was well below theirs so he'll be desperate for that deal to get done

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
