I think that's where they thought Josh Walker would help them, but he certainly didn't have the year they would have been hoping.

Brisbane actually have some promising young talls.  Schache, Freeman, Andrew, Hipwood, Gardiner, Cutler and Paparone is a reasonable depth tall.

I think the club is just so poorly run that they're performing a lot worse then their list should be producing.

They could do with some good leaders as I think the likes of Rockliff are devisive and I'm not sure what sort of leaders Beams & Christensen are.  Grimes could be a good fit for them, however after recruiting the likes of Bastinac & Bell last year to little effect, they may be a little gun shy.

He outperformed expectations of a key forward in his first year. He leads well, can take a good grab and a solid set shot at goal. Cant blame him for lack of supply. His tank wasnt great this year (adjusting to the running patterns and the work that key defenders put into you) and would fall out of games in the second half - which is why he was rested in the back end of the year. Brissy fans boo'd him during the WC game (uncalled for!). 

Basically imagine that Weiderman played the same way for an entire season that he did for the 3 games he played, Schache did that for the 17 games he played. You see something there, saw some flashes of brilliance, but a positive work is progress. 

Cannot imagine he comes back to Victoria unless something worse than this season happens up north. Even then, I think he is what we have (Weideman) rather than what we need (Lobb).

In saying that Josh's is very very close to his Mum who is a widow. I know for a fact Josh really struggled with homesickness as it was the first time he's ever been so far away from his mum aince his dad passed away.

He'll be a good player in time. Probably played more senior footy than I expected this year. At his height Id expect him to develop into a fwd ruck in time, so if the opportunity arose, I'd love the club to grab him.

I know we shouldn't take into account on these things but his best friend from childhood is none other then Clayton Oliver.

Both families are quite close and if the opportunity for Josh to come back to Victoria then i have no doubt we would be in the box seat.

I wonder if we'd look at Lobbe from Port as a backup ruckman?

I personally don't want him, but i think the club wants a backup ruckman

Appreciate that, was thinking we (the club) need to become proactive rather than reactive with regards to players. 

If Hogan is to leave, in terms of our clubs progress then another 18 year old puts us back a step. If we could dangle the homesick card and lure either a Peter Wright (3rd season in 2017) or Josh Schache (2nd season in 2017) then we wouldn't lose too much momentum. 

Start talks early, don't want to get caught with pants down again.

This puts into context some of the feelings our Jesse may be thinking about and why he may want to be living in WA in the future. 

Can't begrudge young people the need to be near their family.

Should both lads want to go home if we can get Josh it may be a way to make everyone happy.

Not sure Lobbe would want to come to us, tbh. He's more a pure ruckman than a ruck forward and would therefore struggle to get a game whilst Maxy is fit.

Totally agree, only problem being (all be it Brisbane's problem) Brisbane become the feeder club. Maybe that's not such a bad thing, QLD only needs one club.

Brissie will come good. I like that there are now four teams up North in the non-footy states.

They are in a down cycle after experiencing an up cycle... big deal, that's footy.

They need to develop the game and players up North rather than rely on recruits from South or West. Thats what they were established to do, but lost focus on in their glory days.

When they re-focus on developing their club, the game and local talent, they'll come around again...

Lobbe wants to be a number 1 ruck.  Why on earth would he come to a club where that clearly won't happen ?

Schache will be a an absolute gun; loaded with talent, attacks, good pace and still has a lot of filling out to do.  I, However, agree with the sentiments of some others here; I'd rather see a player like that stay.  The competition suffers when a team is as far down in the doldrums as Brisbane (and we were for a time).

i simply asked if we'd look at someone like that, didn't once suggest we should go after him, or he would want to come to us.

It was a silly question.

He can't play forward, so we have no need for him and he wouldn't want to come to a club with the resident AA ruckman.

Why don't we suggest Brodie Grundy, then?  We don't have great depth in our ruck stocks so maybe we should take a look at him?

Lobbe isn't worth discussing - he wants to be a number 1 ruckman and he can't play forward.  Won't come into our calculations.

I am simply saying no poster should rudely shoot down another for making a suggestion in a discussion forum, again, i never said we should chase Lobbe, simply asked if he would be someone we'd keep an eye on, who knows perhaps he doesn't get as much attention as he thought and he may be willing to take a role as a backup ruckman somewhere just to stay on an AFL list,

that's the role he'd be playing at Port anyways, obviously competing with Gawn is a tough ask, but Gawn has until last year missed quite a lot of games through injury and we have very little backing him up at this stage, so whether it's Lobbe or someone else i'd be very surprised if the club wasn't looking at a more ready to go ruck option to come in and provide back up. 

right now if Gawn and Spencer are injuried at the same time our next best options are the King's who both are a long way from ready to step up at AFL level, and Spencer has never cemented himself as an AFL ruckman, not sure we could rely on him for an entire season if Gawn went down.
