I watched it, no he wasn't, he gave away quite a few silly free kicks

For some reason I could never imagine reading this from you if Jamar was in a Melbourne jumper...

I like Grimes so I am not sure what youre talking about.

haha indeed. You're clearly a big fan giving him that kind of a wrap.

No fair minded person who watched that game would give such an unflattering summation. Grimes provided a lot of important drive out of the back half. After quarter time he was excellent and clearly in the top handful of players.

If both came in, I wonder who'd go out? All the marginal MFC players - namely Smith and King, were already playing in the dev league.  Of the Casey players (excluding 23rd man Ferreira), McInernie is the only fringe senior, having played 4/12 (seniors/dev league) games, but he is a ruckman so may need to play for team balance.  Munro and Morris have played 17/2 and 15/2 respectively, while Scott, Smith, Keilty and Hutchins have not set foot in the dev league this season and won't now.  I admit I know absolutely nothing about the Casey players, but someone is going to be stiff, as all have contributed to the season.

It may also be that the MFC are conservative on JKH and put him on ice for the season.  Otherwise, the game isn't for another two weeks, so he's got plenty of recovery time.

Chances of Terlich being rubbed out?

That's the big question. Morris was only played to replace a late pull out by Salem, so even though he had a decent game he is definitely on the fringe. Keilty can move from the backline into a ruck/forward position instead of playing McInerney, but I felt like he had a great game so I doubt he'll be dropped. Munro played well, but as you said has been on the edge of senior/dev games too. It's hard to say when every player had a good or better game, and Plappy sure will have a tough time deciding who will miss out and I certainly don't envy his job when it comes to those decisions.

As for Terlich, I'll be very surprised if he gets suspended. I saw the incident where he was reported. For those that don't know he cleaned up a Footscray bloke after he kicked it, giving away a down field free kick as well as the report. He really gave him a fair old bump, and he sort of jumped into him at the same time, possibly collecting him high with his shoulder, but I don't think it was suspension worthy.

Why are so many VFL finals played at Port's home ground? It has a horrendous surface.

probably because it's cheap and reasonably central

Trenners didn't play a top rated game, as has been reported earlier.  But I have to say that I saw him make a couple of absolutely crunching tackles, one of them after a turnover of his own doing, when he was super motivated to make amends.

Just be aware from what I saw that you don't want to be on JT's bad side in a dark alley when he's angry.

On the 2 occasions I recall yesterday, he literally ran and launched himself horizontally at the oncoming ball carrier, who wasn't always looking in the JT direction, hit the surprised opponent with his shoulder in the oppos midriff, wrapped him up with arms around him and with his flying momentum, brought the oppo to earth - all in one bone-jarring motion.

I just love his intensity and hope he can bring the rest of his game along at the same level to reach AFL level.

Sounds pretty close to the definition of suspension-worthy to me! Unless he's Cyril or Hodge, of course.

Ok, ok, it's only Casey, I thought I could get away with being that cocky!

um, not about you, je roos salem.   But about the possibility of the players going into that game under-prepared mentally.

Just glad that didn't eventuate, & we've had a good win.

you can be as cocky as you want 'jrs'..  its all good.

but I didn't want our players to bow out in one set yet again.  As has been the recent result for our players in recent finals.   The up-shot is we pushed thru hard for a very important win for our club & players.

He played well after a mare of a first quarter but hardly BOG, might have a point on him being the sacrificial lamb after the saints game though. Wouldn't surprise me if you're correct on him being a tiger next year. Could also see him going to the Lions.

Like Trenners (probably more so than Trenners) he was unlucky that we had such a good run of injuries this year. Makes it very difficult to break into a team, particularly when youth is the direction.

If (hopefully when) Casey get to the GF I can see Grimes being given the BOG medal, he's been a great performer and would surely be a likely source for highest polling MFC player at the B&F. Alongside Nibbler.

Swans for Grimes next yr

I have my opinions on players same as everyone else, just don't put them on Demonland, opens the door for the nuff nuffs to spout their bile, they have more than enough opportunities without me adding to them, and a lot of it is group think anyway

Casey would have to be a massive chance of taking out the VFL flag this year, the Pies look like their only real genuine challenger

Don't write off Williamstown.

They're not in great form at the moment, but they were very good when they beat Casey earlier in the season.

Pretty modest stats for Mitch White as 2nd best for Casey. Tackles = 0, I50 = 0, R50 = 1

Not as modest as the Bulldogs 1st and 2nd. White was pretty handy on Saturday despite the numbers.

Numbers don't tell everything. White peeled off his man to effect several marking contests.

Was very good.

How about Terlich - 24 possessions, 15 marks if you don't mind, 8 i50s, 4 tackles, 2 goals 3 behinds, not in the top 6 players.

He had us all pulling our hair out in the first term with his 0.2 and one out on the full.

Should have been 3.0, but aside from that he was very good.

I didn't see the Casey game, but the general gist reminds me of Hogan's game against Carlton - clearly a dominant force, but in the wash-up was excessively penalised by people due to the missed shots at goal, as if those undid all the rest of his play.

I know stats aren't everything, but I find it difficult to believe Terlich wasn't amongst the 6 most influential players on the day with those kind of numbers.

He was very good in all things other than his disposal by foot. He just butchered the ball consistently and often under no pressure. It's a deal breaker.

Fair enough. Shame, but probably not a great shock at this point in his career.  Until Terlich I had never seen a player have a line drawn through his name at selection two years before his contract was up, but there you have it.

Only one game in town at the weekend. Development League Preliminary Final between Casey Scorpions and Williamstown at North Port Oval 2.40pm.

KC, what's the rules as far as which Casey & Melbourne listed players can play in the D-League this weekend?

For example can McInerney, Scott, Munro play D-League?  Also Max King & Joel Smith seeing as they played in the D-League last week?

Yep. Undoes all the hard work from those upfield, & lowers the spirits.  Once in a while, is forgivable.  Finals are very different.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
