Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MCC Membership joining process

With longevity the way it is, even gaining MCC membership at (say) 60 years of age gives maybe another 25/30 years membership, or even more.

I've been a country member for decades and consider the annual sub to be well worth while and certainly far, far less expensive than other similar sporting clubs around the world. I played squash for the club many years ago and that and many other sporting sections add to the enjoyment of the place.

Sign up the kids, sign yourself up because you'll kick yourself in 20 years if you don't.

Really? That's not what he told me.

It's absolutely true !  I will be in that category next year . It's been  $15 for ages with no inflation/CPI element at all . .

What? He will be paying $15 a year as of next year.

No wonder some of the oldies who might only go once or twice a year keep it. $15  is about what you'll pay for a coffee and sandwich these days.

Would definitely contribute to the exorbitant waitlist

What is the approximate wait? 20 years for Restricted and a further 20 years for full?

Yeah, it's strange. I was put down from birth and have been a full member for a couple of years now, as has my sister who is two years younger (27). Yet, I was talking to someone today who said they waited twenty years for restricted and are still not a full member yet - they're in their 50s too.

My son ( yes yes, forget the jokes) is an MCC member. A relly of mine enrolled him when he was about one.

He loves it!! Uses it for cricket and footy and other odd sporting events.

However, the ungrateful little bastard refuses to take me to any events as a guest!!

True story. Little [censored].

PS. And he is even richer than I am.

Your 'dress' style may not quite meet the code Bitters. Usually having only 15% of your ample and good self covered wouldn't get you in.

They must have signed up when they were in their 30's then - the website says people who joined around 1990 will become full members this year which would make sense with your situation

With the cost of annual subs, increase in membership numbers, congestion outside and in the stands on "big days", you have to think long and hard about the benefit and value of membership. It has become like an expensive golf club. Unless you attend on a regular basis it is not worth the money. Unless you are delusional enough to think that there is some prestige in being a MCC member. The place has long lost any exclusiveness it might have had in the old days.  I'm not knocking it, but unless you attend regularly it's not good value for the money.

Yeah, I go to 17-18 games a year (13-15 games are at the 'G). It's worth it for me. But it means I can only afford the MCC/MFC dual membership for the MFC.

I am a full town MCC member on $661 per year plus a similar payment for a Guest Pass (formerly "Ladies Ticket") making it over $1300 per year plus I have taken out MFC membership for over twenty years. For that I get in free plus my guest for every AFL match, including all the Finals and I go to every Demons home game as I live 200 metres walk from the "G" (plus quite a few of the training sessions at Gosch's Paddock).

Next year I will pay only $15pa for my (50 year) Membership however I will still continue paying over $600 per annum for my Guest Pass. In 50 years of membership of the Melbourne Cricket Club I have never been to a cricket match at the MCG.

NOTE:

When I joined the Melbourne Cricket Club, one of their sporting sections was the "Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club" (before separating in 1980)! I can't believe people were allowed to join the MCC only to support another football club! As we have realigned in 2009, Membership of the MFC should now be compulsory for every MCC member (giving us the highest membership in the AFL)!

Thanks for the replies guys, trying to weigh up whether it's worth putting myself and the two kids (3 & 1) on the waiting list. They may get memberships by the time they're 40.

Do it, forget about it and then be thankful you did many years from now.  And your kids will always be grateful.

And when you do become members you can put your name down for membership to the MCC food and wine society and wait another 25 years for that!!!!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
