No way he will leave. He is a WA boy through and through, and Freo's next captain. As a professional footballer, his manager would be remiss in his duties if he didn't explore options, but in the interviews I have seen with him he  doesn't seem motivated by money. Perhaps the current status of the Freo list may pose questions for him but not enough to leave.

Freo is an average club with a superiority complex. Unlike the Eagles, they think they are relevant because they get decent crowds and play in Perth (a city that also tries to compensate for its inadequacy). They will go nowhere next year.

That said, he won't leave.

Possibly go to WC to stay in WA but get away from Freo?

Heard part of his interview this morning and he said he will explore every opportunity and option, that appears to me as if he is over it ar Freo and is prepared to move. Bernie is a died in the wool SA boy and has said he will go back there when he's finished football, but it didn't stop him from coming to Melbourne.

He's what, 25, enough time to come here play a few years then go home, he seems like a fairly intelligent guy so I'm sure he won't be home sick and probably wouldn't want to play for the Eagles, that might be a bit difficult in a 2 team town.

Correction - flags

And the Coleman, and the brownlow. And Maxy gets the Norm Smith

Fyfe would be good depth for our midfield.

im not agianst it

:P

I think he will leave. To me he does seem the type that wants ultimate success over money. The amount of work he's done to make himself one of the best in the comp. I don't think he's "putting it out there" for the money, he's got heaps, he's already set for life.

Freo better get their act into gear if they want to keep him but I'd say he's a strong chance to leave.

We should offer up our 2017 picks and see what happens

As much as i would love to have him in our team, the amount of $$$ we would have to pay would put too much pressure on the cap for our own future stars.  No harm in inquiring.

I don't have insight into how we divvy up our salaries but my inkling is what you have said. Fyfe would get a contract making him in the top 10 paid footballers in the AFL. We will be paying a big sum to Hogan - then we have Jones on a big sum and then with all the rising stars we have  - we assume they will continue their progression and we have to pay to retain.

Would love him - don't see how we can fit him in..

the problem is not what we offer Freo - its what we have to offer Fyfe in terms of dollars and our cap.

Big trap here, no matter what any medical says. We're not losing any "once in a million forwards" for it either

He was their last captain too, until there was a player revolt and they gave it to Mundy.

A revolt against him?  Why?  Not a team man?  Should a prospective suitor be concerned?

Isn't Fyfe an unrestricted free agent?  Or did I hear wrong on SEN this monring?

Not sure if there is a thread about this so sorry if there is.

Exploring his free agency options and wants to see what Lyon has planned for the future.

Can't see him leaving but success and money talk. Should we go hard for this guy? After Tom and Oscar have signed on the addition of Hurley would be such a bonus but now it's not desperate because Tmac is still at the club...

Thoughts??

We are obliged to try for this player. We will be increasingly considered an option for players like this and if the deal suits, who knows ??? Go for it !!!!!!

Have a quick Google - he was pencilled in as the next captain right across the footy world, but I thought there had been some internal stuff which meant that he didn't get it. I could be remembering incorrectly!

He's from Lake Grace, country WA. Was neighbours with Cale "the man" Morton.

That clinches it then .  Lets get him !!!!

Care to elaborate on Perth's 'inadequacies'?

Next Captain? I don't think that'll be the case at all. Everyone thought he was a shoe-in for it last year but Mundy took it on.

I think Fyfe passed on it for a reason. He's not as heavily invested in Fremantle as people may think.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
