Maybe you should check Dawes stats from last week before crowing about Pedo ...,pretty much the same except Dawes 5 tackles ...Pedo 0...,the only reason Dawes wasn't played was because Roos said his body wouldn't handle a six day break ..,,neither player is our future but think you're being rather unfair

Nah

Its all about the Pedolanko thanks.

There was a small bit of contact with both players in the air AFTER the ball had past. No free kick at all, was in shock when it was paid and not just because it was for us

Ump said it was dangerous.

"One of the best second halves I've seen by a ruckman for a long, long time." Clarkson on Gawn.

The last 8 mins of the 3rd was outstanding. Kicked his own goal and just served it on a platter to Viney and Jones. It was ridiculous!

There are two highlights for me that don't involve the goals and bode well for the future

Rioli irons out Oliver, Clarry bends on one knee for the moment, thinks hmmm that's what it is going to be like today and proceeds to attack anything in brown and gold

Mitchell trying to bump Petracca, Petracca didn't even notice

5 things that indicated this was going to be a different demons performance:

1. First year player Hunt grabs ball sprints forward and goes for home kicking the first goal

2. First year player Oliver gets cleaned up by Rioli who immediately gets a free kick - other players get around Oliver as if to say we are not going take it today

3. First game player Weideman runs to good position calls for ball and assertively flies for mark

4. First year player Petracca is pressuring Hawks defence when errant mark spills and he kicks an easy goal

5. Senior players get around Brayshaw after turnover resulting in Gunston goal - just like good teams do

all of these things inspired the other teammates - and indicated ' we are not scared of Hawthorn any more' - as illustrated by the quote from Weideman after the game " we believed we could do it"

you beauty.

f&*^%$g fantastic!!  Listened to it on the radio during three hour trip from Warrnambool to Melbourne.  Cant remember driving.  Dont think I stopped at any lights.  Straight thru.

Huge result.  This stamps Roosy's time here as an unqualified success (for the doubters).  His coaching legacy further enhanced by his time with us.

Nathan Jones post match interview with Burgs was great.  Spoke in a paternal manner about this (his) team.  Born leader.  Resilient.  Hard as rock.  absolute warrior and he is our Captain.  Ive said it before but I'll say it again.  I f$%^&*g love him.

Like everyone else I could go on and on about the performance of the individual players and team.  But what I loved most about listening to the radio broadcast, what gave me the goosebumps at times was the roar of the Melbourne faithful.  A beautiful thing to hear.  Don't hear it enough.

It's understandable that most of us have focused on the young talent that was on display yesterday but I'd like to acknowledge the work of the coaching staff. They've copped a fair whack from Demonlanders regarding their game day tactics throughout 2017 but they got it spot on yesterday. Our structures held up impressively. Hawthorn very rarely had the ability to move the ball laterally across halfback. This is their bread and butter but we forced them either into error or to kick long regularly. And they love to use their kicking skills to pin point targets inside 50. In addition to working our backsides off to pressure their halfbacks, the defensive run from our midfield was excellent, rarely allowing Hawthorn time to deliver with purpose. We were well prepared, well organized and the team had the right mentality to action the gameplan. What excites me most is that it is a gameplan built around winning clearances and working hard into space and having 22 players understanding their role when they don't have the footy. We now have a critical mass who get it and believe in it. Hard at the contest and hard running is not new but is so much easier to talk about than to implement on match day. We implemented it for four quarters against Hawthorn and we did it with a bunch of kids.

If the umpires carry their form into the dressing room they will not just give Rioli the 3 votes, they will give him the 2 and 1 as well. That was the worst I have seen them perform.

He was there best player by far on the day.

vandenBerg's game on Gibson was enormous.

I thought he played on Burgoyne, or as I like to call him, one of the many players who usually rips us a new one.

Whoever played on Burgoyne killed it, and I thanked them. I reckon he is one of their best most important players.

Oscar McDonald owes Stretch after that terrible play where he kicked the ball along the ground to Pedersen, not one for the highlights real.

Resulted in the goal that basically ended Hawthorn.

I call for this move to be known as the Oscar special from now on!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
