The only problem with Richmond matching the offer is that they might be stuck with him.

He can then be traded, though it would be less than their compo most likely.

Only if hawthorn play along. They could easily refuse to trade, and if no-one else wants him, Richmond might need to keep him

Don't know why the hate for him.

Disdain. He does so many inexplicably daft things on the field. Makes him incredibly frustrating to watch.

fromm afl website...

DONE DEAL: VICKERY JOINS HAWKS

Richmond has confirmed it won't match Hawthorn's offer for free agent Ty Vickery, allowing the tall forward to join the Hawks on a two-year deal.

The AFL has confirmed the Tigers will receive a round two compensation pick, currently pick No.26 based on the contract offer and Vickery's age.

Richmond winners there coming away with Pick 26!

By the time Wells & Mayne compo is done along with Vickery & Brisbane's Priority Pick, our 2nd Rounder suddenly becomes Pick 30!

Will Essendon still accept?

Next year's second rounder is looking better all the time to them...

Pick 26 for Vickery? Wowee, that's almost as much 'overs' as we got for Frawley.

The Richmond list managers must be doing a little barn dance around Punt Road.

Getting rid of Vickery and picking up an early 2nd round pick at the same time, just spectacular.

26 for the Vicker.

Remind me what we got for Silvia again?

In the end, a good laugh at Fremantle.

But, with the information available on hand at time, Sylvia was a much more valuable commodity. Sylvia's best was very very good (bitterly) while Vickery's best includes about 5 genuinely outstanding games and the rest is empty.

Both Silvia and Vickery were major under performers for their first clubs. Both had/have potential, but both the comp picks were well overs IMO.

I would love to see this backfire spectacularly on Hawthorn but unfortunately I fear Clarko will turn him around. I can't fathom why they would go after him with that much cash though, just mindboggling.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
