I couldn't give a toss what you have to say stuie, your just a troll that i no longer have time for, oh and if you saw past your hatred i didn't write "RIP Grimes' career" i wrote "RIP Grimes' career at the mfc".  I knew you would say something, you precious little parasite.

I know what you wrote, I'm talking about how much of a rubbish bloke you are posting funny memes about the end of someone's career.

But given your poor use of the English language in your reply it's clear the point went over your head.

Make yourself a coffee or go foir a walk it is just a football team not the middle east.

Old Dee, I think that's probably the working premise.  For a lot of people though there'd be a view that Dawes' best betters Pedersen's best.  I suspect Roos is firmly in this camp and hence the patience and persistence.  Chris has showed tantalising glimpses of what he's capable of when fit and it makes us a better outfit.  However, there's been no injury excuse in recent times - he just didn't stand up when he needed to.  Pedersen on the other hand was going along pretty consistently before being struck down with illness / injury.  Tomorrow looms large for Dawes.

Maybe Paul can hold Chris's hand on the way out ?

Yes playing a myriad of kids who are wet behind the ears.

In 2011 I think we won 11 games this year the best I can see is 9.

On that basis we are no better off.

8-13-1 in 2011.

I think we were 7-7-1 after beating Port in round 17 that year.

I hope we don't end 2016 like we did 2011.

I can't believe some think Pedersen is done and should be delisted. Prior to his injury, the bloke was kicking 2 or 3 a game and taking contested grabs at both ends of the ground. He is a seriously good pack mark and provides a contest, which is far more than you can say for Dawesy. I think a few people need to go back and have a look at Pedersen's early season matches. He is also reasonably agile for a bick bloke and can at least hold the ball up if he doesn't mark. Dawes turns slower than the Queen Mary and could't run down a sloth crossing the road.

He'll also turn 30 before next season starts. I think that might be the main factor.

So Bernie Vince is a certain delisting then too

Yes, because Bernie and Pedo are equal in talent, position, performance and contract status... So that's exactly what I meant. Clearly.

Not the point.

I agree it's likely the last game we've seen him play, but to post a "RIP Grimes' career" meme up is poor form.

I agree 'stuie', it was poor form.

Grimes has given great service to the club and deserves a bit more respect than that.

Vince has been average for two months..is 32...I would argue that we have a plethora of midfielders to replace him, while Pedo is one of the few big bodied talls who has proven he can take a mark and kick a goal. You argued that based on age he was finished. That was what you said..he will be delisted because he turns thirty. The only thing you considered was age. I was being a smartarse and saying that based on your dribble thinking, Vince was done too

Personally I would prefer a fit Peders over Dawes...however he can be a bit lazy and coming off illness might give him a bit of a let out.

I would think both unlikely to play much senior footy next year delisted or not...if Weed or Hewlett can't get a game then we are on the wrong tram.

They were both coming off injury interrupted years in junior footy and the club has given them the year to get some good consistent game time.

Despite the theory that talls take longer, and it does apply to rucks, all of the really good KPP's play and show something in their first year.

...so we've either got 1 or 2 beauties ready to go next year or we've got Ayce Cordy & Liam McBean.

That is NOT what I actually said. I said his age "might be the main factor". Are you that simple that you can't extrapolate that for yourself? Want me to make a PowerPoint presentation? Out of contract. Not being selected. Fitness already a worry. Others coming through in the same role.

Also, I'm fairly sure our reigning Bluey winner has a few more credits in the bank than a bloke who has played 59 games.

I think you might have rose coloured glasses on:  5 goals in 7 games.  had a couple of good games and a few poor ones.  was in line to be dropped.

not that Im saying Dawes is better

It's weird that you should say that, I had a dream last night that we won 52-50.
If that does eventuate I will conclude that you and I must be long lost twins with some kind of mental connection.

I am eager to see the results.

Firstly it's not a meme,

It was a lighthearted poor attempt at humor to try and lighten up a glum situation and in your eyes i failed, you could be a little less confrontational in your reply but no not you stuie, insult first then apologize never.  I normally have a lot of patience with you but lately your self righteousness is wearing it thin.

You can have your opinion, I can have mine re: Dawes.  So in your eyes he NEEDS to be in the team no matter what, there is no other option, it's him or nothing?

No, it was you trying to be a tough internet guy, giving it to someone whose career may be over. I'm no Grimes fan, but posting up a meme (yes, it was a meme) like that was just poor form, simple as that.

And now you're just hitting the silly stuff... Please show me where I've said Dawes "NEEDS to be in the team no matter what, there is no other option" etc etc... If you actually had any clue what you were talking about you would have noted I called for him to be dropped (and Hulett to come in) the week he was dropped, and I called for Spencer back in this week with no sign of Dawes. However, I understand the structural issues, developmental timing, injury & fitness complications and wants of our main key forward that mean Dawes is playing this week. I'm guessing you don't.

All i can do is laugh and shake my head at you, calling ME the internet tough guy, what the hell has a tough guy internet image got to do with it? I think it is time the doctors had a good talk to you, recommitting you may be necessary.

And do not bother replying, I am sick of your high and mighty comments, every single post from you there is some kind of snide remark or dig at someone's opinion, you being silenced with make this place enjoyable again.

Sometimes I really like your posts and your perspective on footy.  Then then other times, like this, I don't.

I'm not a Dawes fan mainly because of his inconsistency but he is capable of good key position forward play on occasions.  I reckon the FD know more than us and would have played Dunn forward if there was merit in it.  He played forward for the second half against Saints first time around and hardly touched it.  He was "hidden" there because he couldn't play the new zoning defence.

Onward and upward.  Let's hope Hulett and Weed progress quickly over the preseason.

I think we can both agree on one thing: neither Dunn not Dawes are part of our future and both are bad plugs to a big gaping hole

If that is indeed the final score I will be both delighted (in the win) and despairing (over the quality of football played).

Don't know if it's been mentioned before but BenKen and Bugg are the traveling emergencies. Newton nowhere to be seen today.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
