GAMEDAY - Round 17

I already posted this in the preview thread, but North losing to Port has kept us in touch with the 8, even if barely. A win also puts us a game clear of St Kilda, Collingwood and Richmond.

This season isn't dead yet. Screw our record against the Saints and at Etihad, now is the time to show we're better than these pretenders and put them to the sword.

I like the cut of your jib, Nasher. There's an air of resolve around, I reckon.

Cmon Dees, no f$&king around, let's sort these pretenders out.

I'm too hungover to handle another loss to St Kilda. It's gonna be a loooong afternoon!

Does anyone remember off the top of their head where on level 3 we can sit as general admin?

Did I mention I loath that stadium?

Concerned about selections, matchups, and the shitihad curse. Aints to win fairly confortably! Rewoldt, Bruce and Membrey to tear us a new one with our veryy iffy defence!

I'll be heading to the match and we better f*cking win. I'm sick of visiting that rubbish stadium to watch losses to average teams.

Get it done Dees!

I was pleased by the zest and energy of last week in a difficult environment playing a side  we were fancied to beat and actually got the job done as it should. I expect the same today. If so, it will be a sign of character and mental improvement to match the improved quality of the list.

Well said. My line of thinking regarding this game as well.

Last time they beat us it was our "home game" at Etihad. Last game we won was an away game against last year's 'minor premiers' at TIO. Surely we can win two "away games" in a row for the first time in eons! GO DEES!

p.s. And Scorps!

I've noticed over the last 2 weeks a slight change in roos in the media. It seems he is being more nostalgic and talking about the future outside of football. For some reason, the hunch I get is that knowing his coaching career at the top level is ending, I feel like he is going to push really hard for that 8th spot. Whilst he has been super at "educating" thus far, I wouldn't be surprised to see a real push towards "motivation" if even behind closed doors. He obviously had us primed for a big start against freo, even considering we gave the first 2 goals up. I'll just say, for those going today, get in early as I think the first 10 minutes will be explosive. We can not lose to the saints again, and I predict we will destroy them early, even at that abysmal stadium.

Wouldn't it be great, if for once our dreams (fantasies) about some of our line in the sand games would come true. I went to the earlier game with the same hope, (apart from the St. Kilda hoodoo, we were also striving for our first threepeat in years). We got the first two goals and even led 5 goals to 2 late in the first quarter before they ran us ragged.

I have lowered my expectations of winning any specific game since that and the Essendon loss, however, the one thing I do have confidence in, is that we will fight on and won't give up. I'm bloody proud of this team for that reason.

Will the roof be open on a perfect day? That would help in our quest. Not sure on the policy any more but it has been open for one or two games this season.

Just saw the club retweet a tweet from shitihad... Roof will be closed, what a shame.. Would be a beautiful day at the G. Hopefully the players dont have the same mindset as us supporters about going to this hole

Like every other MFC tragic, I am totally fed up with losing to St Kilda....they are not a top 8 nor anywhere near a top 4 side, so why are they so invinceable against us?  It's all above the shoulders at this ground, and the Team needs to grow a set and show some grit on this ground and beat this mob.

I will go and support them, but I am damn sick of fronting up to this ground to watch us lose.

Was at that game too, even mentioned to my company that "we were on" early in the match. My, how it was a differemt mood 2 hours later. Agree on the last part, we have shown all year that we will fight and compete amd not lay down.

Not going in today. Shite match time and even worse stadium, and better opportunity to watch both Scorps and Dees from home. But geez I'll be yelling loud and the fridge already knows it will be getting a solid workout.

Cmon guys - esp. Grimesy, Gus.

Read this on Saintsational, - by heck, now it really is a 'LINE IN THE SAND GAME', we don't need another damn record against us!!!

"History to be made today"

"But today, today, we have an opportunity to make history against them. Our two longest winning runs against opponents in our history have been 13 against Fitzroy (60s), and 13, plus a draw in what would have been the 14th, against Richmond (2010s). We win today and for the first time in 120 years we will have won 14 games in a row against an opponent. We will also have won our 91st game against an opponent, which would be a St. Kilda record.
We have won not only the past 13 against Melbourne FC, but 15 out of the past 17, and they have not beaten us at Docklands Stadium since 2002, taking our excellent record against them in recent times back 14 years."

Getting the same feeling. I think he really wants to make finals. There's been a shift in tone, albeit minimally. Will be hard, but it's possible. If we lose today it's out of the question.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
