Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination

Draft position and what players did pre AFL has little relevance.  This kid has got it.

I watched Abblett jnr in his early years before being drafted and paid close attention to him in his first year at the cats.

There are alot of similarities except Hunt has played a better first 15 games in the afl than abblett jnr did.

He has the burst away speed of Judd or Macleod. I really don't think it is a stretch to say he could become one of the games elite.

ManDee, just wondering how they work those stats out?  What I mean is that you are showing Talia was ranked 79th in his year of nomination, but there can only be 22/23 nominated each year.

And the stats you used to compare Rivers, are they for those eligible to receive a nomination, or of those that did receive a nomination?  If it's the latter, then it would only be fair to compare Talia to those in his year that did receive a nomination.

It would be interesting to see the full list of both years.

This is what is exciting, there are a few players that have this and not much else.

This kid has a powerful game.

Back on topic, I think Hunt excites me as a player as much as any player we have drafted in a long time. That speed is breathtaking, I think we may have something (what would Bruce say?) Special!

NB:-Patrick Dangerfield did not win a rising star.

Lets not get too carried away. Dangerfield is currently the best player in the competition and Hunt has played a handful of games. That speed is breathtaking and his courage and dare are great to see, but lets not put too much expectation on the kids shoulders just yet.

Haha agreed. Midfield is a completely different proposition to half back. Much easier with the game in front of you. That's why midfielders and forwards get paid the big bucks!! 

But love the way this kid goes about it! As Martin Flanagan wrote the other day, "Hunt plays as if he is an arrow shot at a target behind the middle of the goals." (Or something like that).

I'm a huge fan of Hunt and love seeing him get the ball in his hands. Every time he does I generally find myself screaming "Run Hunty!".  As SPC mentioned though, he does have a few flaws he needs to work on namely in positioning and kicking penetration. Many of kicks are big floaters into the forward line. Imagine if he had a boot like Petracca!

I would love to see a longest kick competition with he and Hogan. Reckon Hunt might just have him covered. Daisy would probably beat them both.

It looks like we are getting carried away but we have had 3 rising star nominations this year (Oliver, Harmes, Petracca). Hunt has had a better year than all of them.

Which brings about my question. If he gets the nod sometime this season that will give us 4 in one season. Since the rising star began has any club had 4 nominations in the one season ?
