So many people just don't seem to notice this. They expect 20 marks and ten goals every game. Hogan is consistently in our top 5-6 players. Even when he has a "lazy" game, he has a good game. Both he and Watts do a lot off the ball that the average fan might not notice.

Completely agree.  His awareness of who is around him, and his ability to hit them with a quickfire, handball or tap from conjestion is sensational.  One of the key reasons he's a 'standout' is that he's not your more typical, one dimensional KPF. 

Further, he is double or triple teamed every time the ball goes near him in the forward half, and while that prevails, he can't be expected to kick too many large bags.  I can't wait until he's only one of two genuine quality KPF's in our attack.  Hope we don't have to wait too long!

Strech is great at buying time in order to find a target. So many times when he gathered the ball on our half back and looked up there wasn't a single Melbourne player in sight. His ability to dance around and bork a few opponents until a team mate is free is a great asset Billy has.

As for Nate Jones getting slammed, all I can say to you is shame. Shame on all of you. Yes he made disposal errors, but he is always under pressure, always the first on the bottom of every pack, and has carried this pathetic excuse of a team for so long. Show some respect! 

What is this Break even rubbish?? Read Taylor Walkers stats 18 Quality possesions, ( 83%) disposal efficiency, 7 contested 12 UNCONTESTED ( which bears out the fact that Mc Donald didn't man him up as I have said)  3 Goals ! Now add to the Mc Donald game a 65% disposal efficiency , the same dubiuos decison making plus clangers of which cost 3 Goals and you will see that my assertions stack up.Yes accept T Mac took 11 marks but the fact remains that Taylor Walker had and excellent match and was instrumental in the crows victory. Rewatch the game with blinkers off and see that what I am suggesting is strong analysis!

And as always This is my opinion. Happy for anyone to piont out innacuracies in my appriasal!

You Asked someone else to look at this and see if you are wrong, I thought I would give it a go.

1 - It is called a zone defence. The coaches ask him to play it, if you don't like him playing it blame the coaches, not the player.

2 - He stopped plenty of goals through intercept marks and spoils, not really sure what you mean with this one.

3 - So he does take contested marks, doesn't that stop goals, and who are the contested marks against if he doesn't man up? All players also mis read a situation at times, sometimes he will punch when he should mark, to expect him never to make that mistake is laughable. 

4 - Again blame the coaches on his role across half back. I agree that he does relax a bit much with the ball at times, but he also gets over anxious sometimes, both lead to mistakes. 

You wan't to trade for a better option? Plenty of people who actually really know there stuff rate him in the top few defenders int eh league, who exactly is this better option?

You hatred of O Mac is also laughable, the kid has played a hand full of games, he makes some errors but he also does some great things. You simply expect too much.

How about you re watch the game with out the anti McD blinkers on Picket. Walker had a OK game, so did TMac, both did some great and some bad. Broke even sounds about right as Walker certainly didn't win the game for them, or even dominate.

Fact Taylor Walker towelled him up yesterday , If you are one that thinks he broke even then this is part of the problem which exists at our club. If you aren't winning and beating your direct opponent you are losing! T Mac does have a lot of attributes, but manning up and being accountable for a man isn't his strong suite! Ok If the coaches are giving him specific instruction to play zone and not be accountable, well then you would have to question such tactics playing against one of the premier forwards in the competition would you?? Is that your assertion??

That is one of them yes. If you don't like him not manning up then look at the coaches not him. Whether playing a zone like this is right or not is another discusion but it is one about if the coaches are doing the right thing not the players. 

This bull about you are either winning or loosing is crap as well, have you never heard of a tie or a draw, that is when neither opponent wins on aggregate over the whole day. For mine TMac and Walker had a draw yesterday, both had some wins and both had some losses through the day. You seem incapable of ever seeing either of the Macs ever have a win and neither of them ever do anything right. It is incredibly tiring having you go on about both of them every week. 

How you can say Walker towelled him up yesterday is beyond me. Take off the hating blinkers and watch again. Also have an appreciation for how the zone works and where it falls over and that sometimes TMac will be out of position on his direct opponent through no fault of his own, happens to every team that play a zone from time to time.

Hey Bobby.....I'm intrigued that you too are reminded  of Don Williams by Jayden Hunt. I thought exactly the same thing, and I think I posted it on this forum,but I can't find it.

Jayden might not have Dasher's ability to take the "hanger", or do drop kicks on the run after 3 bounces, but he does mark well, and those runs out of defence inspire the whole team.

"Stinger" used to lift the team with his dashing runs, too.

I wouldn't say that at all. It does break down at times but for the most it works fairly well. Mastering the zone and how to play is also a hurdle we have to get over at some point as it is the best way to defend when you play it well and it is easier to attack from as well. 

It has completely fallen over in a couple of games but it fell over due to lack of effort, not lack of the right game plan. No game plan works without effort.

It does break down but it is also the reason why we are scoring much more heavily this year as the half back flankers are pushing way up offensively.

I want the best of both worlds - more attacking football as we are playing this year with more shut down defense  - much harder to do when you have only 4 players left in the back half when the ball is turned over.

Agree nutbean I also think that there no.1 ruckman played a lot better game than Gawn around the ground.
