POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 9

Will take the 4 points, but lots still to work on. Back line, back line, back line. A better team than the Lions would have taken us apart down there.

Ho hum ...

Sums it up sadly

Ugly ugly game but for once we came out on top.

We won take it and move on to next week.

Go Dee's.

Played some good footy, played some poor footy, and we won by 10 goals, which is something I think most of us hoped we would achieved.

Plenty to like about today - Petracca and Stretch were fantastic, Hogan kicks 5, we still kicked 19 goals without Gawn giving us first use in the middle like he has in previous weeks, ANB and Newton were solid, and we got some good games from Watts, Jones, Vince and Viney, without any of them dominating.

We still need to fix up the back half, but that's how we set up, not necessarily the personnel down there, O Mac aside, who does look a little raw.

Enjoy our second 10 goal win of the year boys!  5-4 and still in touch with the 8!

Very happy with the win and the young guys who are finding their feet. ❤️?

We used to be the 'other team' after games like this.

A very salient point

Great win, our kids are incredible.

Billy Stretch,  31 disposals after 25 last week, very nice.

Yes .  Nev missed greatly  today.

I'll take a ho hum 10 goal victory over us being the team who loses by 10 goals! Nothing ho hum about a 10 goal win! Man we are harsh supporters! We win by 10 goals, score over 100 points again, have a spread of goal kickers and a young midfield!! I will take this any day of the week!

ANB is clever. Did some smart things.

Stretch 31 disposals, leading possesion getter on the ground.

No one predicted his rise would come so quick.

Truck kicked 4 points.

1 goal, 3 behinds

That score review was a total joke and as inconclusive as it gets. Total waste of time except to hurt us for no reason.

Terrible 3rd quarter. Big Max was down. Skills too cute overall. We need to lift to beat Port.

Charlie Dixon will have a field day next week.

Jesus Christ Sydney forwards are going to tear us a new one. We will get thumped against Sydney with our back line

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
