I think Jesse will re sign a four year contract. But frankly I haven't got the first clue about what will happen. There....... That's my contribution to this thread. I hope you liked it !!!!!

Josh Mahoney has apparently stated that Jesse Hogan will play round 1 2017 & 2018 at the past players function tonight. A little ambiguous but very positive signs

I've read a couple of times on twitter tonight that at past players function today it was stated Jesse will be signing a 2 year extension next week -  so with Dees for another 3 years at least.  Anyone able to confirm? Any past players on this site?

Does signing him to what would be effectively a 3 year deal alleviate much of this chatter? And does it provide the club much more stability. I'd say a modicum.

If Hogan signs on for an extra two years we still need an in depth discussion on where he's going to play from 2020 onwards.

This thread will go until he moves, retires or the ants take over and the Internet ceases to exist.

Guys, spoke to my contact yesterday.

Bottom line is the club has presented Jesses management with a number of contracts. Freo and WCE have both l approached Melbourne about a trade. We have told them to bugger off in no uncertain terms.  He did however say that this might be a playing games tactic.

Jesses decision will not be based around anything but the go home factor.

Club is HOPING and expects to hear something next week.

After speaking to him i came away with the feeling that Jesse will be playing for us next year with either a new contract or on the existing one.

Anyway I'm ready to be shot down...... LOL.

Also said we are still in dialogue with Barlow and club is confident of landing him as a nice up-grade in Matt Jones.

Didnt know anything about us being interested in Motlop.

Go Dee's

This guy has GOT to be chiliboy/Nudge, surely.

TBO, I don't find the credibility of his info to be any different to GNF's.

That may well be true. But at least gnf has learnt the art of brevity

If we made finals, or at least finished the year very strongly, I don't think the Jesse Hogan media beat up would be as strong. So a two year extension should reduce the panic next time around - if we are top 4 and challenging there is no way he'll go.  If we're languishing outside of the 8 the media will push it hard.

I am, but unfortunately being a past player with the Kananook Bombers, I don't get a heap of Melbourne intel.

It does at least mean he wont be a free agent when he's next out of contract.

Means we're better placed for compensation.

Let's just wait and see if it is 2 or 4 years, if he has re signed.

4 takes him to FA.

I'm not sure if it's officially happening or anything, but haven't the AFLPA pretty much locked it in now that free agency is being reduced to 6/8 years, so Hogan would be an RFA in 2 years?

The sooner players can be traded without their permission the better.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best.
