It was the CEO. They know what's being said in the industry. That said, he and the MFC apparently don't know what Hogan will do.

Obviously I hope he re-signs.

And that's what I'm hearing. The MFC don't know.

RB like you I've been told that he has had a number of offers infront of him.

The problem is clearly on Hogan's end and his inability to commit to us.

The MFC would obviously be saying, what the hell do you actually want from us at this point? Short contract? Long contract? Not enough money?

Everything points to the same conclusion: deep down, in his heart, Hogan isn't committed to the club and the club are becoming, rightfully, fed up with the games.

[censored] the dogs. Throwing the ball all the time, ducking and getting the 50/50's. Exploiting the rules and "cheating" - What an admirable premiership drought break. Don't give a [censored]] if i'm drunk or salty, but that game was just entertainment in the service of a "fairytale"  - There is nothing special going on over there about culture, coaches or personnel. They're exploiting the rules.

I'm sure we're all a bit drunk but facts are facts: Dogs have won a premiership this century; we now hold the longest premiership drought in the entire competition.

And we sure as [censored] ain't going to break that drought with half-hearted players that aren't committed to the cause. The reason teams win premierships is because every single player on their list is 200% committed to a single purpose.

We will all have the answer by Friday

Interesting, you have a grand total of 3 posts, and all three are in regard to the timing of Hogans big answer.

If you're right, what a start to Demonland posting.

If you're wrong, presumably you'll be 'delisted' as a troll.

I understand you can't reveal your source but is it a different source than we've heard reported here recently? Is it a primary source or heard from someone?

You have no real idea what Hogan will ACTUALLY do. Why suggest otherwise.

I've hardly suggested "otherwise", unless you find one comment that "he'll stay" a rock solid declaration and flagrant use of my psychic ability.

It's a pity that you're more offended by my reckoning that he'll stay than you are by the countless posts "he's gone".

I suppose one train of thought speaks for your view and the other doesn't.

I hardly took offence.

You did say, he wont be going anywhere this year. You cant know that. Just because theres  a contract through end of next season in the context of what happens now a days it really is worthless.

I can say I know absolutely nothing about what he will do next year. Its been suggested that neither does he ( JH )  I personally would call bullshlt on that other than he may be dithering between options. A family health dilemma may well weigh on him, but to be frank this ridiculous standoff has been of his ( and managers ) making from some time ago. This modus never smells fragrant .

I do find it a bit disconcerting with some of the discussion around a 21 year old, I am sure most of us can remember being 21 and especially male, not exactly the most 'intelligent' creatures.

Yes he is an AFL player, and yes he is being paid an inordinate amount of money for a 21 year old, but he is now having to consider his future/career, he must take into consideration his families wishes, especially if there is illness, but I am also sure he is getting guidance from other sources as well.

Think the modern day manager is more about getting the best deal financially for his clients, rather than footy success, my opinion, so Jesse will also have to weigh up the advice from his manager as well, and what he wants to achieve in his career

Lin Jong toured Collingwood's facilities earlier this year.

Your point is valid, though. The Dogs' best, say, 26 or 27 players are completely and utterly committed to the club and to their cause and it shows.

What it all boils down to, though, is consistency, and Hogan is not the only player on our list who needs to develop that week in, week out consistency.

Why. If he signs he signs. If he doesn't he doesn't.

Red. Hes not the bloody mesiah ffs.

No one said he is the messiah.

It's just the anger that has been directed at him, by so called Demon fans, when at this stage he has done nothing to deserve it.

He is contracted for another year. Has never said he is leaving. He is apparently dealing with a family crisis. Yet, is the butt of anger and derision from some, because he hasn't extended his contract in the time period they demand. FFS.

I thought we were meant to support our players, until or unless they do something that should end that support. What has he done wrong to deserve the anger of some?

As usual, if he stays and does well, those same supporters will be the ones fawning all over him.

They also ridded themselves of mercenaries like Ward, Griffin, Cooney and Higgins. Would you take any of them back now? [censored] no!

Ward a mercenary? He begged them to stay. Wanted $50000.00 more on a poor contract to stay, when he had been offered double to leave and you call him a mercenary.

Dogs have admitted it was their bad mistake he left.

Cooney was dumped because of his bad knee, after playing his career at the Dogs and offers to leave and would have stayed if they wanted him.

It's easy to attack people when you are not accountable.

After watching the Dogs today, I'm done with anyone who isn't dedicated to the club, dedicated to the cause, and dedicated to getting us our next premiership.

A player perpetually delaying their next contract doesn't interest me. Sign on or [censored] off. If you aren't 200% committed to the single goal of winning us our first premiership cup in however many decades, I don't want you at the club; it only serves as a disservice to the club and the rest of the playing group who are clearly on-board.

I get the sentiment but Hogan is only just ticking into the last year of his contract now. I assume that means MFC should be putting contracts under the nose of all other players out of contract at 2017 seasons end? I assume the player should sign regardless of whether they think the terms are reasonable or whether they think their form in 2017 will have a bearing? Should Christian Salem be offered a 3 year deal and sign immediately?

Yesterday was the first time I'd seen it.

Beat me to the post.

Boyd had a great game in the GF.  First one that I can recall.

Wasn't he dropped to the VFL for a large chunk of games this year, because his form was terrible?  Played 14 AFL games this year.

Was defended by the club for his poor form, while on a huge salary.

The short memories dominate on here.

The difference is that Hogan will be taking up a large part of our salary cap if he stays long term. If he doesn't want to recommit, we could use that potential cap space to recruit. It's a no brainer. If he doesn't recommit, then trade him.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
