Cant believe we are favourites at Metricon. This is scary.

On Sportsbet it is $1.92 each of two. Money must have come in for us as we were underdogs (marginally) on Sunday.

Thankfully the game against StKilda was on Saturday and gives the team/players time to regroup for Gold Coast.

It will not be easy. Saturday would have been taxing on the hard surface, so recovery will be important.

Gold Coast will be stinging from the trashing at the hands of Geelong. Another team we face on the rebound. But we should be up for it, once again with the make up with our team - the mindset will be critical. Our selections will be just as crucial.

Let's hope they do their homework on the dimensions of ground......

Attention Demonlanders : Just noticed we are favourites so everybody put bets on Gold Coast to win if the Dees have got any chance

We are not favourites on the AFL website. They have the Suns winning by 14 points in their "Preview" of the match.

He had better play, I dont think I could handle Picket Fences meltdown if he didnt

Mind you we would all melt down I think

Oh I dunno, I sometimes enjoy his meltdowns.

However I think on this occasion, like you, I'd prefer Oliver on the ground over the comedy value of a picket fence rant.

If ANY Melbourne fan is stupid enough to pencil in a win then they clearly haven't been paying attention. We are still at a stage where we will lose games we "should" win.

Be confident in the team, but we are far from the stage of penciling in wins.

After the Essendon game, I cannot shake the "I have no idea what to expect this week" feeling.

If its going to be warm then maybe bringing in players with high endurance and work rate will be the go.

Stretch, Neal Bullen and Grimes are 3 with big engines and huge work rate.

Oliver still comes in. His clearence work was sorely missed on the weekend.

Not sure how he would be fresh when he laid 16 tackles.....and had 29 possessions. Its not like he was coasting there....

Can someone explain to me why you'd keep Lumumba ahead of Wagner or Hunt?  Wagner plays a much more defensive game and Hunt is a young developing player who at least goes hard at the ball.  After 200 odd games Lumumba provides no defense, doesn't tackle, doesn't hurt the opposition with his possessions and isn't going to get better.

We aren't going to make finals this year so why are we investing valuable games in a player with no future?  I just don't get it.

Perhaps mistakenly BB but I think he still gives more over a period of time than the other two.

Because they are both very young I think they need a rest at Casey to regain their confidence again only my opinion but both looked VFL players on Saturday..

Because he's one of the few players who consistently plays to the game plan even when players like Wagner and Hunt are letting him down.

Lumumba's been terrific this year.

Just now, Baghdad Bob said:

Explain how he plays it and the others don't.

He runs with and without the ball. He plays on. He runs in a direct pattern.

I like both Wagner and Hunt but they're both yet to learn how and where to run when they don't have the ball and they hesitate before playing on.

Remember F.E.A.R on Roosy's whiteboard? Lumumba has totally bought into Roos gameplan, that's why he's picked every week, and he's showing those young kids the way even when they don't go with him.

Plus, "Lumumba doesn't defend" is a bit of a silly comment. How do you think he gets his possessions?

LUMUMBA is a joke, if he's caught 1 out its over, can't kick, has no vision, 1 trick pony (run in straight line 14.5m then kick ball blindly).

i need to hold my breath any time he is involved.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
