If North and Dogs are 2 best teams in it ...

I don't rate North at all, Waite won't stay fit/hold this form all year.

I think they'll be around top 4 but there are 4-5 teams that are better than them this year.

The pressure was good. The rest, nnnnot so much.

My footy multi has died every Friday night this year too. I've gotta stop betting. Or start chasing my bets even more.

Next 3 weeks nth play saints carlton essendon. Most likely 9-0. But as JB keeps saying they will have a tough draw in the 2nd half of the year. But geez there forward line of Waite who marked beautifully tonight, Brown and Drew is a great advantage.

We should have beaten nth. But it will be interesting to see if they can finish top 4.

I was going to say we'll see how those 3 go in the wet winter, checked their draw and all bar one of their games in Melbourne is under the roof. So it'll be a huge advantage indeed.

Geez, and we don't get ANY Friday night games this year.

Gotta wonder about that Etihad surface. Dogs are decimated. Geez why did Truck need to debut there...

Saber, we don't deserve any Friday night games with the [censored] we've served up in the past...

Dont start that crud again. We deserve equal billing always. As do the other 17 clubs.

Not really.

Good effort, though...

The AFL keeps talking about equalisation.  If they are serious about it then every club gets to host one Friday and one Saturday night game.  They can give the extra ones to the sides they think will be bigger drawcards or rank the highest, but at the most basic level they have to give every club an even chance to make money off those timeslots.  They also need to ensure that they don't do their usual trick of giving Melbourne a home game against GWS or Brisbane so that no away fans show up.  It would require a little work to arrange the fixture, but they have the capacity to give prime timeslots to the local derby's for the interstate teams and to put the Melbourne-based clubs against each other to maximise crowds.  This would make far more sense than what they've done for the last couple of years with the plethora of Carlton games on Friday nights.

North are consistent - if we get rid of our tendency to lapse badly and string a few wins together, you never know what we can do.

Well there's something i never thought we'd see, imagine a couple of years ago aspiring to have the consistency of North

I know there's a long way to go, but no one is really standing out at this stage. The Hawks could quite easily miss out on the top 4, but become one of the first (if not the first?) to win it from outside of the top 4. That's how even it is. The competition reminds me of 2005. Just about anyone in the top 6 could win it.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
