6. Vince. Played a massive midfield role AND kicked 3 goals.

5. Gawn. Another stellar ruck performance plus 2 goals and some key defensive marks.

4. Viney. An absolute bull who also flies the flag for his team-mates.

3. Tyson. His first really good game this year. 31 possessions and 2 goals

2. McDonald. Held down defense exceptionally. His disposal is the only thing stopping him from being elite.

1. Garlett. The best forward on the ground all night.

Gawn. Dominated and clearly BOG for mine.

Vince . Tough when it matted and kicking goals from the midfield

Viney. Wow he is a machine

Garlett. Had a big impact either kicking or creating goals

Tyson. He makes a difference to the team when he is on

Watts. He is becoming very consistent and on track for a great year

6 - Gawn (supreme)

5 - Viney (dominant - he is a beast)

4 - Tyson (best game for the year)

3 - Vince (stepped up when we needed him to)

2 - Kent (ran hard all day and he's in good form)

1 - Garlett (played an excellent small forward's game)

Others who played well ... basically everyone else.  Like last week, we didn't have a poor player (IMO)

For 3 weeks in a row, we haven't got an obvious candidate to be dropped (Stretch was dropped after the North game but he didn't play a poor game in that match)  Some of our players who didn't figure well in the stats still played their part.

So in essence it was a great team effort with some absolute standout performances (Gawn, Viney & Tyson) I could have easily given Watts, McDonald & Jones votes and it was a toss-up between Viney & Gawn for the 6 votes.

The top two were magnificent tonight. No other word for it.

Hard to fathom giving T Mac a vote with his turnovers, but the rest of his game is so unbelievably good. He toys with you as a supporter.

6 Gawn - Set the win up with an amazing first half, before tiring a little in the second and he got done over a bit by umps again.

5 Viney - Originally was having trouble with Townsend's hard tag, but then willed himself and the team to the win in he second half.

4 Tyson - What a game by him. How many times was he caught with it this week - I think only one. And his kicking was the best it's been.

3 Vince - Sometimes you forget what a great kick he is and then you watch his left foot snap for his first and realise he's got skill and hardness covered.

2 T-Mac - Rance is the best defender in the league (and after tonight quite a few other things), but T-Mac isn't far behind him. And only one clanger kick for the night when the game was all over.

1 Kent - how many hard chases, how many unselfish hand offs before he finally snagged one himself in the last. By far his most complete game yet.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
