CRICKET QUESTION

I know this is on the wrong forum but I am really keen to see if any Demonlander can answer this question.

On the scorecard for first class cricket there is a sundry which is new to me. We all know about byes, no balls, wides etc but what the hell is  a true B and a false B? Both give extra runs to the batting side. Come on someone enlighten me as Google didn't know the answer! There has got to be someone who knows. Thanks.

Sheeit Bobby I played a truck load of cricket but this ones got me stumped!!

Just wondering if its got something to do with boundary permeters ???

No, it has featured in the recent NZ series as well as Sheffield Shield. Definitely first class cricket. Type in Live cricket scores and click on 'scorecard'.

The "B" that you are refering to is Byes, but I've got no idea what the "true" and "false" relate to. Never noticed it before.

I can't find an example of where true and false extras are given on the same scorecard. Does this occur? Still no idea what it means though.

Exactly. All the scorecards I looked at either had Extras True for both teams or Extras False for both teams. Still doesn't answer Bobby's question.

There were a significant number of extras on some of the scorecards that you can't imagine they'd be all true or false. So that should rule out in-play differentials. But they occur at different levels and formats as well. My random guess is that it's related to betting. Maybe like the line? Or, if I could be arsed studying it at depth, some sort of impact differential? Should note - I can only find it on one website as well.

Code true = 1b 2 lb 3 NB = True = total 6 xtras

There are no examples on the current cricket scores but I did see both true B and false B in the same batting team's innings a couple of weeks ago. Very puzzling indeed. I am appreciating all the efforts you guys are putting in.It will be solved I'm sure. Maybe WJ will know.

Definition: WASP is a feature of limited overs matches only.

A true B is one that's added to your score no matter what happens.

A false B is one that tells you it's true, but one day you turn around and there it is scoring for some other batsman.
