Dodged a bullet here.

"Yarran arrived at Richmond for the pre-season overweight and has injured his calf muscle twice in the pre-season."

If you turn up overweight you obviously haven't done enough training in the break. If you haven't and then try to keep up with pre season training you are likely to get injured. Double whammy. There was a lot of talk last year about us trying to get him. Phew, not our problem.

Lesson here about being careful in recruiting players who have attitude problems at their old Club and thinking you are going to turn them around. Sylvia anyone. You are on notice StKilda.

Interestingly there was an article about Menzel at Adelaide also not coming back in good enough condition and having to go off into the fitness group as his fitness level isn't good enough for their midfield. Mentioned that Jacobs and Betts were able to advise the fitness people what to expect from a player coming from the Blues.

Sounds like us a couple of years ago.

And they haven't that much to smile about lol

Didn't the Blues have Dave Buttifant as fitness adviser? The same guy who was credited with getting the Pies into finals with Malthouse?

Interesting, if so, that he wasn't able to stay ahead of the curve or get the Blues to train to the required standards..

Interesting story I heard on SEN yesterday about the Blues.

It seems they did a survey of members and a third of female members said they did not feel comfortable around the club or when attending home games.

They felt they were less than welcome and  it was very much a boys club

If Richmond were smart they would have gone after Jed Anderson instead.

...but as we know, they've not smart.

If you are feeling we are no chance to make the finals then glance Richmonds way. They suck, hugely. They are the definition of mediocrity. The Tigers should give us hope and confidence

I don't see any reason why we can't be better than them, take their top 8 spot and play first week of the finals

I definitely agree with this. My uncle was a blues supporter and took me to a bunch of games when I was a kid. I really hated the atmosphere in the members section at Optus Oval. It felt unwelcoming, there was lots of swearing and yelling. It felt intimidating.

Doesn't surprise me that their female members feel like that too.

Fairly confident that back then Choke it would not have mattered where you went footy clubs were very blokey places.

Most have since changed substantially but not so much at Carlton it would seem.

We turned Garlett around.

Its a risk but that why some clubs are willing to take those risks because of the potential. We saw that with Garlett.

Btw does anyone know what pick Richmond gave up for Yarran?

Pick 19, which ended up being David Cunningham.

Oh absolutely Shorts is a gun

But Jeff aint far behind him if he can just straighten up those shots at goal.

Does he actually run too fast to have steady aim when kicking??

so easily could have dobbed 60 goals last season.

Misses often by centimetres!

In his case it's not onfield we have to worry about, its off field. So fingers crossed they have been able to do both. His domestic situation is very complicated apparently and a lot of behaviour problems caused by his partner. Hopefully its all sorted now. He seems to be naturally shy and having a year under his belt in the Club will probably set him up even more for this season

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
