Dare to dream Demon fans, by all accounts he is a ripping young fella. Will be taller that his dad, let's hope he has inherited  Jeff's incredible leap, athleticism and beautiful kicking action. He certainly looked good on his under age video highlights. A mouth watering father/son prospect for the mighty Dees under the tutelage of Captain Max and our merry band of coaches.

Don't worry about that. I read somewhere on  here he is breaking schoolboy high jump records.

Only risk is the lure of basketball. Pays better and has the potential of representing country.

Also a much much harder sport to succeed in at the highest level.

It's a risky move to pick basketball over AFL in Australia unless you are an absolute A+ talent with a future in the NBA.

I can't understand the pay grade in the NBA.

Patty Mills has shot the lights out in now what is an increasingly 3 point pame.

Ben Simmonds can't even make a free throw and isn't what I would call a culture maker.

I reckon Jason Taylor could go over and recruit with the same principals.

Interesting to note Ben Simmons' draft profile in 2016:

1. Simmons' lack of competitiveness in some crucial games has raised questions about his character as a basketball player. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ben-Simmons-61928/ ©DraftExpress

if his high school high jump records are true, i think the aoc is a bigger threat - by the time the 2032 olympics roll around in his home town of the gold coast he'll be cherry ripe to claim a medal

he'll play for us.

relax aye.

The Olympics will take place out of season. He can do the high jump, play NBL for the Brisbane Bullets and ruck for the Dees in the same calendar year.

Yet in that last footage Jeff shared he was really nowhere near dunking the ball in an open lane ?  (Jeff mentioned the nearness, which makes it seem not so common). 6.5 - can't dunk - something is wrong with this picture.

Pretty selfish lad to be honest, some people aren't good at 1 sport and he's good at 3.

Nearly ever kid that gets drafted are good at any sport they play and usually need to make a call between sports around 15 years old.

Kids heights are off the charts, I was at a U15 netball event a couple of weeks back, Association level, I'm 180cms and the girls in the shooter, keeper roles all stood over me most would have been around 185-190cms at 14/15 years old.

Be interesting to see how this guy develops playing in QLD the junior leagues are a lot weaker than Vic/SA/WA comps.

Feeling I get as well.

Some parents like to go about it in a quiet way and enjoy the journey with their kids, and some like Jeff love to let the whole world know about it and live through their kids own glory.

I know a few parents like this also.

Nothing wrong with parents who support their children at their sport and give them the proper encouragement. It’s those who take the next step beyond that and become controlling who are the major problem. Remember Jelena Dokic's father Damir Dokic. He was a nightmare and probably destroyed her career.

Looks like he will be ready to take over from Gawn playing in tandum with Jackson when Gawn plays as a forward in place of Brown.

Looks like Melbourne is going under the radar with our U14-16's Academy - no other club will find our talent because they now spell Academy as Acadmey - brilliant ploy by the dees :-)

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
