With regard to MFC and Jake - if EFC can top up, we should be able to as well.  It would be better to bring in a player overlooked in the draft and or from another competition rather than just be given approval to upgrade a rookie.  That way we get a free look at another player who may be the next AVB

Now did I hear correctly that Watson ban may be longer as he played the international rules game? Ie same length of suspension but as he played a game later than the rest he starts back later?

Just to remind us, would someone please be kind enough to repost that photo of Jobe's  beautiful legs during 2012?

Yes, Watson and Fletcher received an extra 8 days.

It is another example of CAS throwing the book (and everything else at its disposable) at the players with not an ounce of latitude given in the severity of the sanctions.

I'd also be looking at who we can sign on. A speculative pick that we can have for a year and see how they go? Someone who might have just been a little small at the draft? I'd like to think that we would bring in someone to see how they go for a year.

Hep, there is a table at the bottom of the findings which outlines the return dates for each player. Jab comes back a week or two later than the others due to the international rules games. There are a few others who don't come back until early 2017.

I haven't come across any comment in relation to top ups. Kevin Hillier on SEN bemoaning the fact that the stand alone VFL clubs like Werribee will be raided by the EFC. I guess there may be one or two at Casey who may be in line as a top-up..

Whilst we'll miss Milkshake, you'd think the likes of Port and the Dogs will be jumping up and down if they can't replace Monfries, Ryder and Crameri.

It seems that the indigenous boys played in an exhibition match that has pushed their suspensions further out

That would sound about right. I was wondering why it was the Indigenous boys who were the latest on the list. May have been the exhibition game in Alice.

Next season is [censored] now. The teams who play bombers twice have now got an unfair advantage. They should just sit the year out.

While people condemn the Essendon players they should also remember that MFC flirted with these drug Cowboys or so called "sports scientists". We're just lucky that we didn't go too far with it. The Essendon club officials are to blame, not the players.  They were naive but most of us, if we were a young player, would trust the club and do as we were told. Football's recent history would suggest Essendon were not alone. There are serious doubts over WC, Geelong as well.

First and second year players maybe, the rest no.

I can't see how Essendon could possibly be allowed to conduct a season with only 32 on their list. You can take the "you cheated, tough luck" but the main recipients of that punishment would be the innocent players of marginal fitness who have to slog through the season because there's no backup. It's a major, unacceptable health risk to players who did nothing wrong.

Essendon will rightly be allowed to top up. I suspect in the interest of fairness, the other clubs including us should be able to as well. It's no big deal, they're going to stink anyway.

CLAYTON OLIVER would be feeling good today at what his sublime abilities resulting in him not being thumped every week next year.

Darcy Parish is going to get beat up on every game with no seasoned body mids to support him

This could make a huge difference for some teams, is going to be something the AFL definitely will need to address, percentage boosts from

playing them twice could be the difference between finish 4th or 5th, or 8th and 9th

Especially as Stkilda get them twice, if it turns out they get a finals spot over us on percentage I will be slightly annoyed.

Interesting comment from one of the Shark's lawyers:

"The players would most definitely have a number of legal options available to them, as a result of Essendon failing to act in, and protect, their interests. The other clubs that have recruited ex-Essendon players that are now facing suspension, in our view, would also have strong prospects in pursuing Essendon for any losses they have suffered as a result of having to stand their players down for 12 months"

Suing Essendon - what fun.

I  actually feel sorry for  Parish knowing full well  that  Viney is going to bury his  head directly  into the MCG  turf

I'm not so sure about this. We knew when we recruited Melksham that he came with this specific risk. Unless we got prior confirmation from the AFL that topping up would be allowed should he be suspended, it is arguable that we don't deserve the opportunity to top-up.

Also, I'm not sure what the value of a top-up player might be. Presumably a top-up player is someone not considered good enough to recruit in the first place. Why would we want to play a top-up player ahead of every other (fit) player on our list?

CAS has delivered the verdict that many of us had been expecting all along.

I'm annoyed about the small penalty, as I was hoping they would miss 2 seasons, but I'm jumping for joy at a guilty finding.

For all of those media sycophants, and delusional essedon supporters, who have been spouting [censored] through the whole saga, I say this.

Just because you want something so so bad, it doesnt mean that if you say something often enough, that it will come true. Your twisting of, or simple ignoring, of blindingly obvious facts, has painted you all as fools of the highest order. Years of pushing an agenda, of telling and re telling the story through your essedon tainted glasses, in a vain attempt to influence people, thinking this would help to get your boys off, has been seen by CAS for what it was. Nothing but bummers propaganda.

You, essedon, are now CONVICTED DRUG CHEATS.

Many of you are STILL arguing that this was some kind of conspiracy, a setup.

But you have been found GUILTY of using PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS.

And one other thing. You were convicted using evidence that was gathered by ASADA. ASADA evidence had you convicted as drug cheats. ASADA AND BEN MCDEVITT KICKED YOUR CHEATING ASSES. The little afl tribunal couldnt protect you from bigger forces, that dont give a stuff about your insignificant schit stain of a club

You filthy, stinking, cheating drug users. May you suffer for years after your players return. I hope all of you delusional priks choke on your wasted words.

You lost - Clean sport won.

Die essedon. Just die.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
