I was going to write something along the lines of  suggesting minimums - Petracca  - minimum 3 weeks but imagine the outcries ! - "that doesn't tell us how long he will be out for !!!"

Maybe they should go with a broader range  - 3-8 weeks - still don't think people would be happy.

how about this

Interesting The Ox compared Trtacca to Ablett Snr.

Just yesterday I mad a post saying how he reminded me of Allen Jakovich..   Ox usually has the good mail from the MFC so Im now confident hes going to be groomed as a forward. Very exciting, him and Hogan islolated in side forward 50 will be orgasmic for us and a nightmare matchup for the opposition.

Ablett snr played a lot of his footy up the ground and on the wing as well as at FF, he could kick them from anywhere.

Trac will spend a bit of his time rotating through the middle not just as a forward.

For what it's worth, many clubs are fundamentally opposed to these x number of weeks time periods.

Geelong for instance has lobbied for three time scales:

- short term

- medium term

- long term

Going to be hard to shift the mindset to something such as this however.

Was hoping to have caught a glimpse by now!...

What's the word on when he'll be ready to play?

Back in full training, just waiting for him to get a solid block, optimistic about round 1 but round 2 probably the aim at this stage.

The story of Petracca's toe is exactly why Demon fans are skeptical when an injury is first announced and a time line is given.

The thread opened on 5 January and we were told it was a four week injury. That was 9 weeks ago and Petracca only joined the main group for training this week and we are now told that he won't be playing in the Demons side until at least round 2 making it about 12 - 13 weeks.

Even allowing for the delay in his rehab, this sounds a bit much..

Hopefully it is because they are taking extra time with a foot injury. Frost was out most of the year with a toe so maybe they erred on the side of caution with tracc. He has been training for some time just not playing or training with the main group.

On this one I am happy to wait to make sure we get it right.....

No, it's because they want a full block of training because he's missed so much footy.  It's now nothing about the toe.

Frost's toe was hanging on by a tendon.

Gablett snr would be enormous in the middle in todays footy.  He would brush through tackles or don't argue screens.  just unsure of his tank.

Was there for an hour, first training I've been to.

Particularly strong in the air and noticed his power/explosiveness on several occasions.

Would love to see him play a half for Casey this weekend as part of this 'block of training' that he needs to complete.

He just looks keen as mustard to play.

Debut the kid against Essendrug

good thinking. He won't fear any Dad's Army and he certainly won't have trouble switching on mentally!!

run him off the bench...

SWYL, I get the feeling the kid isn't afraid of anyone, let alone Essundone.

With the likes of  Petracca, Hogan Oliver and already with Viney , Vince and the Bearded one we have not only players that dont fear the opposition but players who actually relish taking them on ( and apart )

This is a very different Melbourne we're seeing emerge

Jeez I sure hope so. But Vince is getting old and Hogan is going home to the West.

This would be glorious. Though would prefer he has to wait a bit longer as we go with an unchanged lineup after smashing GWS.

Hopefully he will play in the Casey game next week and maybe another one-two more games before he pushes for inclusion. Is he participating in match simulation yet?

depending how he travels over the next few weeks  I reckon he might be a sneaky chance for an off-the -bench  debut in Rnd 2

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
