Superstar Month on Fox

For anyone who has Fox Footy you would know that they have a whole month dedicated  to the current stars of our game in the likes of Fyfe, GAJ, Franklin Hodge, Riewoldt etc.. Everey day they will have a different star with full match highlights of their best games. Every now and then il switch over and have a look as I don't mind watching our games great full gear at it.

I wake up this morning gobsmacked that they have a whole day dedicated to Trent Cotchin .. spare me seriously? good player but he hasn't gotten a kick in all of Richmond's finals for the last 2 years. Goes missing when the heat goes up a notch. This is where the real stars of the game just go to another level.

I also shake my head because if the likes of Cotchin can get a whole day to himself where is Bernie Vince who I rate extremely more highly then Cotchin and impacts the game more then he does. Give me the leadership and courage of Nathan Jones over Cotchin aswell.

So in other words yes I think Cotchin is overated and Fox Footy have got this one wrong..

I agree too.

I actually really dislike the overuse of the word superstar in our game too.

Too often commentators call players superstars, when they are just really goo players.

I dont think their are that many superstars in our league.

I wouldnt be calling Fyfe a superstar (yet) or Dangerfield (yet). I think they need to do it for a few more years and win a flag.

I would say a superstar is someone who has won many, many games off his own boot/ with his own presence and has led his team to overall glory, over a LONG period of time.

I guess that means that maybe I think Hodge is superstar? I just cant say that though cos I hate him as a player!!!

Maybe they should change the month to "really good players month"!? Just doesnt sound that good.

And if Cotchin gets a gig, as did Jack Riewoldt and Travis Boak and many more, we should see Jones get a go in my opinion.

Richmond have how many members? 60k +? Supply and demand is behind this pure and simple. If we had that many members they'd probably have Nathan Jones and Matt Jones highlight packages on there.

Disagree on Fyfe.. hands down the guy is a superstar. I understand that he hasn't obviously won the holy glory but he has won alot of games of his own boot and he has a big physical presence on field that the likes of Voss and Carey had back in their days.

I dont buy into your theory that they need to win a flag to be in the superstar category. Gary Ablett senior was a superstar in the 90s and he never won a flag.

Ditto Plugger,Flower and many other superstars.

Would be first picked in any team/any era.

While I don't disagree about Cotchin, superstars are made in finals, how many kicks have Jones and Vince got in the last two finals series?

My favourite part is that Richmond fans actually think they're part of something special where as they're actually part of nothing.

Vince averaged 22 disposals in the 3 2012 finals series

Back in 2009 he got 28 disposal against Essendon and a week later when Adelaide got knocked out he racked up an impressive 34 disposals.

Again i know who id rather..

Id take Jones over Cotchin by a country mile through leadership and sheet courage he has displayed this year.

Yeah look I'd take either Jones or Vince over Cotchin every day of the week, you don't need to sell me on that.

Just saying that if you're making your criteria the last 2 finals series, then it's pretty clear why no MFC players are in there.

Again, superstars are made in finals.

Bobby Skilton was a superstar.....Played 1 finals game

Robbie Flower was a superstar.....Played three finals games

There are so many superstars who for what ever reason, their team was not good enough to make finals.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on that one Boss. When I think of superstars the first names that come to mind are all finals champions.

maybe foxtel are picking one player from each team for the month? so the best player from tigers, either cotchin, delido or martin.  from eagles, probably kennedy, priddis (no idea how they picked nic nat)

they just called it superstar month as 'Quite good player' month doesnt sound as good

fairly pointless arguing on the definition of a superstar as there is no definition.  every one has a different idea.  same with A grade, star, etc

Was Robbie Flower really a 'superstar'... Understand there are alot of really bias supporters on here but when i think superstar i think of Carey, GAJ, Matthews, Voss...

While Robbie was a fantastic player personally in my opinion he wasn't a superstar..

And thats my whole argument. Why on earth are Cotchin and even Naitanui getting air time when they couldn't get a kick in the finals.. While Vince is no superstar surley he deserves his own air time.

Last week they had Rory Sloane for a day.. while he is a solid player, again i was gobsmacked that he got a gig yet Nathan Jones hasn't had no air time. .

Rory Sloane over Nathan Jones? Spare me Fox Footy..

I'd like to see 30mins of the best footage of Bernie on the [censored]. I reckon he can't be matched once he's got a beer in hand.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
