Display name for Tea. But what happens if there is a space (or odd character) in your display name?

I would assume that you would then use Tony Tea exactly how it is written as your login name spaces and all.

Posted (edited)

Why would that happen?

I'm not sure it would, but because so many display names have spaces it could happen. Usually with spaces an automatic "%20" gets inserted for things like web addresses, user names etc, could cause problems?

ie - "Deestroy All" would become "Destroy%20All"

It will only affect people who have changed their initial name that they signed up to Demonland with.

For you personally if you signed up as dpositive then your username and display name are the same and you don't need to worry about anything.

Prior to this change if you started as ABC but changed your Display name to XYZ then currently you would be logging in as ABC as that is your Username despite your Display Name being changed to XYZ.

Under the new software everyones Username (the name you log in with) will be replaced by your Display Name (the name everyone on Demonland see above your avatar). In the above example the poster will have to now log in as XYZ to post on Demonland rather than ABC.

If you have never changed your Display Name then it will not effect you as your Username and Display Name were always the same.

I doubt the makers of this software for this forum would [censored] up their users forums like that.

well if "Tony Tea" is worried about imbedded blanks, i assume it is not too late for him to change to "TonyTea"

I doubt that will be an issue.

Yeah, just a possibility worth checking their FAQ's for when making a decision I guess.

Would be fun to have "username" activated, just for a couple of days, so that we can see who is who. Then flick it back to display name so that we can update our "ignore" list.

I would assume that if you have someone on ignore and then they change their name you would still be ignoring that person despite the name change.

I have a username?

The only reason I remember my display name is that I see it.

I see in your signature that you were formally astrodee. Is that not the name you use to log in to Demonland?

Okay my username and original display name is a bit embarrassing so I'm glad we're going with current display names lol.

Nope.

I use my display name. Astrodee (and posts under that name ) sorta disappeared during the tea trolley disaster or whatever caused that crash some time back and we had to re register.

Anyway that's my memory if it. Mind you, my forgettory is far more powerful.

But bugger it, I still remember Harrison and Weideman wrecking 1958 for me. One of the reasons I want to draft his grandson is that perhaps he can make up for his grandfather's thuggery by starring in a flag for us.

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
