We have a CHF... Petrecca was a key forward under18s and if anyone can remember he had the drive(as a teenager!) to drop a big amount of kg just to play midfield. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm struggling to think of anyone off top of head who did similar...with ease.

Anyway the ball movement is moved on quick now so all we need are midfielders and more midfielders. Petrecca is strong enough and explosive enough to play here and if he doesn't need to or have the option to use that cannon of a leg he has choice of kenty coming through on one side or midfielder on other. We also set in forward 50 but the surprise will be if not traded is watts in the pocket with the confidence in the world as big jesse will hand out the justice if needed that's if hes not commanding 2 opp.defenders.

We have a full spine of players that can play entire career together so i think target mids because as of next year i betcha my left nu..ckle we will be a destination club and for me id be now targeting KEY DEFENDERS.

Everyone has looked a fool backing this club to the hilt but the reality is now...we almost there

I love Brisbane's stance re. Aish. Yeah so they're probably going to lose out on a second round pick but the message it sends is very strong. [censored] Aish and [censored] these other kids 'nominating' clubs after 2 years. Hope he goes to Carlton.

On one hand I get it - on the other they got Beams last year under similar circumstances so can't really complain.

You made the comparison...

...and I don't think a player like Casboult will compliment Hogan & fit our structure.

I did make a comparison, a comparison that he gets a grand total of 1 less possession a quarter then Hogan after you said he doesn't get enough of the ball.

If you could point out how that's me saying that Casboult is just as good as Hogan i'd love to hear it?

Ive heard We are going to trade out Dawes for our 4th round pick then immediately trade him back in for pick 6 + Howe. (Industry Source)

What???

It's a riddle within an enigma.

We give away Dawes and in return receive our own 4th round pick back from ourselves.

Then using pick 6 and Howe we re-list him.

Sounds about right to me.

Yes, he 'only' gets 40% more possessions, 25% more marks, 40% more 'inside 50's', 600% more goal assists, more contested marks, more marks inside 50 and 100% percent more goals. Hogan is also faster, cleaner, better off both sides and a far better decision maker.

Other than that they're virtually the same.

Sleepy. ..Petracca is 186...just a bit short for a KPF.

He may have played the half forward role in juniors but they seldom man up the same there as they do at senior level.

CP will start of yhe half forward line as a flanker most likely. As he builds his tank hell do time in the middle. Hell be groomed as a mid. He was drafted to eventually play a more midfield role.

Yes, he 'only' gets 40% more possessions = 3.6 possessions, 25% more marks = 1.5 marks, 40% more 'inside 50's = 0.6', 600% more goal assists, more contested marks, more marks inside 50 and 100% percent more goals = 20 (4 more games). Hogan is also faster, cleaner, better off both sides and a far better decision maker.

Put some of the figures rather then percentages in there so as it's not to misleading. Some of them I couldn't be bothered looking up.

People can use statistics to prove anything. 40% of people know that!

I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall hear. CASBOULT IS NOT AS GOOD AS HOGAN!!!!

I was never and have never said he was. Someone's arguement against Casboult was he doesn't get enough of the ball. I simply pointed out that he only touches it 4 times a game less then Hogan and somehow some muppets have seen that as me saying Casboult is equal to Hogan which is utter bull!

IMO Casboult would be a good foil for Hogan. Another big body who can crash packs, take a grab and kick goals while also being able to relieve in the ruck. He's an upgrade on Dawes who in turn could be sent to Casey.

If others have a better alternative for a player who can do those things remembering they need to provide adequte support for Gawn, then I'm all ears. There may be better options then Casboult, but he sounds the most realistic option out there at the moment.

You're the one who first used stats. Stupid stats. 4 possessions per game is significant when you're a power forward. And FFS, it was Hogan's first year. Everything improves from here. Hogan won't be targeted more than he was next year as opposition clubs knew he was the main man from the get-go.

The Bulldogs dropped Boyd because a more mobile forward-line works well in the current climate. We need agile marking talls to complement Hogan. We need players that can keep the ball in when it's inside 50. We need a contemporary forward-line.

We don't need Casboult. Carlton may not think they need him either.

And the Hawks played 4 talls in the Grand Final and Eagles 3 talls throughout the year, yet you want to copy a team that was knocked out week 1 of the finals?

Given I was the last one to quote a "source" before your post Jaded I assume you are referring to me

The source is real. If you choose not to believe that is fine, you don't know me so there is no reason you should.

Personally, I like to read what other people have heard and I just passed on what was told to me and I must admit I found the masturbation reference a bit tacky.

Definitely not having a go.

There is a reason why I'm here all day reading rumours and sources.

I said "we need agile marking talls". Kennedy and Darling are agile marking talls. So too Gunston and the Cobbler.

Nick Reiwoldt is an agile marking tall. Buddy Franklin is an agile marking tall. Taylor Walker is an agile marking tall. Jack Watts could be an agile marking tall, but unfortunately he doesn't have the stomach for it.

Casboult is not an "agile marking tall". Tom Boyd is not an agile marking tall.

And Hale, Sinclair?

Watch Ceglar take Hale's spot for the Hawks next year.

Casboult is no less agile then any of those above.

I agree we need agile marking talls. We also need a 2nd key forward who can chop out in the ruck.

Casboult is far from a perfect ideal...but a distinct trade up as 'foil' as compared Dawes.

We may not get to wherever in one fell() swoop but its a bit of progress i would have thought.

Be interesting to see how the FD pushes in this sort of direction. What we have currently isnt quite there

Every team will have a different makeup depending on available personnel.

I'm glad you brought up Hale and Sinclair. We already have our own version - Max King. Max King is going to be at least the equal of these 2 players.

Callum Sinclair is 200 cm, which is the same height as King and he's 26. He was recruited from Port Melbourne. King won't be ready to be a forward/ruck next year, but in a couple of years I reckon he'll be a revelation. I'm far more excited by him filling the forward/ruck void than Casboult.

I accept there's a waiting period, but with King in the wings I wouldn't be chasing Casboult.

Now I'll hear about "no guarantees", "exposed form at AFL level", etc. Whatever, Casboult isn't the answer. I'd rather make do with Pedersen.

EDIT: I'm also keen on sending Dunn back forward as an agile tall.

Players that will compliment Hogan will be a dime a dozen. But if we could just find one to complement him on the field...

I, personally, don't think Casboult could be that player. I'm not arguing about quality, but style of play. In essence, comparing Hogan with Casboult is like comparing a German precision engineered machine with a Chinese knock off designed for the same purpose. Cheaper, but not capable of delivering the same outcome.

We've found some common ground here ProDee.

I to am excited about Max King and what he can bring, and that he will eventually hopefuly fill the forward/2nd ruck role that we currently lack.

We also agree that he's still some time off being able to play at AFL level.

For me, given Casboult is 26 in March 2016, it provides an option for us there meaning King can develop with no pressure at VFL level. But I guess this is where we disagree.

If we aren't able to get Casboult or that type of forward in this trade period, then I agree with you that Pedersen would be our best bet. And I also agree that one of Dunn or Garland should be moved forward as a versatile forward. I'd actually be happy for it to alternate depending on our match ups down back. For example against at team like North who play a lot of talls, I'd rather Dunn back and Garland forward. Where as against the Dogs with a smaller forward line I'd have Garland back and Dunn forward.

It will be interesting to see what our forward structure is next year.

Best way to complement Hogan is to give him quality supply through the midfield.

Or you try, Nice hair Jesse.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
