I haven't seen much of him and not sure he fits a need for us, but supposedly reads the play well down back and marks strongly, and has very good footskills. Worth looking at at least imo, also was a Dees supporter apparently, and has been played at times as a big-bodied-mid/winger at GWS.

Interesting footnote. Yes, Plowman was taken at 3 and if they had taken Toumpas instead, who was rated top 3, we would have taken Ollie. Now Plowman wants to leave.

There's plenty to work with for Toumpas also, but i wouldn't expect a rival club to offer anymore then a fringe player plus 3rd round pick or a 2nd rounder on it's own.

Don't think you'll see any 1st round picks being thrown out.

If not for a serious elbow injury in May, most would have Plowman ranked this highly without any questions. The rebounding, tough and creative defender was in flying form for the Calder Cannons at the start of the year before jumping for a mark and landing on his arm, dislocating his elbow and tearing a ligament. He had surgery, and missed almost four months, including the championships. But the 18-year-old is an excellent pick for the Giants, who need to shore up their list with a few more defenders.

Profile: Strong key defender who stands out with his marking and ability to read the play down back. Plowman is an offensive minded key defender who provides great drive from the back half. Defensively Plowman can continue to get better but I really love his style of play with his really natural rebounding game down back which I hope he continues to develop because it is a really great strength to his game. Shutdown game solid and can also play a role as a close checker. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see him during the u18 champs, but that should in no way hurt his draft stocks with what he has shown otherwise throughout his footballing. Has rare composure for a key defender and has a great skill set for a player of his type with his footskills in particular standing out with his ability to find targets up the field. Has really nice mobility and if he has the ball in general play he can avoid tackles as you’d see from smaller players which is an interesting aspect of Plowman’s game. Recent speculation has been that Plowman could be developed into a midfielder so don’t be surprised if this is where he develops. Certainly at his size and with his composure and ball use looks an ideal future inside midfielder with clubs increasingly preferring those taller midfielders.

Well, looking at all that compared to his career so far, obviously he's not come along as hoped, partly by injury of course. At a moderate 'price' would definitely be interesting, though. A type we can always use more of.

Meanwhile, wow, the best dozen of that draft is quite a show. So strange that picks 2, 3 and 4 have all struggled, and that GWS bollocksed it up so completely that year. Thank whichever football deities are watching over the game, because soulless franchise GWS with Stringer, Wines and Grundy added, we could all just pack up and go home.

[censored] that. Howe is a 25 y/o 100 gamer. Sure he's a bit of a show pony, but he's an AFL quality utility. Plowman was a pick 3 once, big whoop, so was Toumpas. And the latter has shown more which is saying something.

Can't say he floats my boat. One because he has shown little and two because it is not a position we are desperate to address.

If Howe and Garland both left it would make some sense to target him, but we have a plethora of mid-sized defenders which I think Plowman fits into, and I can't see the need for his services.

Little Goffy's pre-draft player profiles (post #22) are quite compelling and I am sure were instrumental in GWS's decision at the time, as he appeared on his Cannon's record as the elite defender in the 2012 draft. Interesting stats in the four profiles posted are that, as Plowman got taller (191>192cm), he also got lighter (86>84kg) and his current Club profile has him at 90kg. Not sure that they would be too demanding in their demands for him considering the fact that he only managed two games this season, and his stints up forward have resulted in a career total of a single goal! To offer up Howe, Watts or Toumpas for him would be a mistake IMHO, however I see no reason why we shouldn't consider him as a project at a fair price (just in case the pre-draft reviewers got it right)!
