He is versatile too. Can play as a tall on the wing with his elite endurance running for his size.

I like that he can go forward or back. Could tag team with Frost if he can improve his defensive side a bit more.

I feel this is a realistic and potentially great pickup if Melbourne can get him.

Is close with Dom, both went to Trinity Grammar and are good mates. Said it made things easier for him up at GWS with Dom around.

Come home!

Playing Watts as a third tall works also because he is not a contested pack marking forward and wouldn't get in Hogan's way. But again, he'd need to be really willing and understanding of where to lead, run and make space.. He's a natural forward runner so it suits him, we've seen him push hard into space when he knows there's ball on offer..

Watts played forward and wing for the grand total of 10 goals.

It would have been great if he could have been our 'Gunston", but, unfortunately, he offers very little value.

Would love to see him running around HF with Watt's, AVB, Pederson, Frost and Jesse. Would add to our taller player stocks quite nicely.

Carlton have been reported as interested but I think Roos would like this kind of player on our list next year.

Really hope we get him. I think he has a higher ceiling then his current performance.

He's been a diabolical dud. To rate him "incredibly highly" is utterly nonsensical.

Thankfully, it looks like he'll reach his potential, which is so far from his draft selection it's not funny. Nonetheless, we're grateful for small mercies.

He's a mistake. But he's a mistake that's becoming a valuable entity as we move forward.

I just had to waste 5 minutes finding this - just a shame you used the very same word...

I'm flattered you took the time.

I dare say I've been pretty consistent on Watts, but I'm not immune to a contradiction. Although you'll note the tenet of my discussion is remarkably similar.

He had a good few weeks when his urgency improved, however, I see no real value in him. He'll never stand up to the heat of a final and 10 goals for the year just highlights his lack of possessions.

I accept some are emotionally wedded to him.

Credit where credit is due. You have been consistent about Watts from the get go. As someone who is most definitely emotionally wedded to him it pains me to say you have largely been proven correct in your assessments of him. He did improve this season but you're right he simply does not get enough of the pill.

Still i hope he stays.

Wiseblood...

Cheapshot from someone that is negative and adds no value. No evidence just a crack. Waste of air for the rest of us.

GBTTSA...

(edit)

You suggest we shutdown all threads unless players have signed contracts with MFC.

I'm not being negative - why bring up a trade idea in a thread that's been dormant for a while? We see it rise to the top and think "oh, there must be some news on this front..." and it ends up being a trade idea that makes no sense as GWS are not interested in Howe, something that's been reported by a few journalists now. THAT, my friend, is adding no value.

Yes, yes, you are always flattered...

I have argued that he is worth far less to other teams than to us simply because we don't have to sacrifice a pick to get him.

I came to terms a while back that he will be nothing more than a flanker with an excellent leg. There is value in that though...

I don't think so and I doubt the club does either.

After 7 years he's been dropped twice in 2015, averages 16 disposals when disposals have never been easier and kicked the grand total of 10 goals.

It's a bust.

Who??

Any of:

Kurt Tippett (getable for our 1st round pick given Sydney's need for points for Mills/Dunkley)

Ben Griffiths

Josh Walker

Michael Apeness

Mason Shaw

Mitchell Harvey

If we're going to recruit a 2nd key forward, we need one who can also go into the ruck when required. The above 6 can do that. Tomlinson not so.

He might have kicked 10 goals but he got more goal assists which adds more value and illustrates that he is a team player!

You're easily pleased.

The guy has been an unmitigated disaster, but still has fans.

I've long concluded that he could be Lucas Cook and he'd still have some supporting him.

How's your coffee?

'It's an unabashed totalitarian waste.'

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
