Just raising this again.  Bloody Hell this guy has become a good player.  He just tore Carlton apart with a three-disposal run through the middle ending with a pass to Day on 50 who then hit up Lynch for the easy goal.  When I think that we  went for Tynan, Taggert and Sellar that draft and he was snatched up in the PSD.  What the hell were we thinking?

I'm not sure I've seen a bad footballer become so good so quickly. Like a flick of a switch last year. He's devastating when he gets the ball and keeps finding it.

He could always run but now he gets up with the ball, bursts away and has gone from a turnover merchant to a good kick.

Happy to say I got this one wrong, not sure anyone could've got it right though.

Had an absolute blinder!

I was cursing every possession though, as I had Lynch/Ablett for goals/possessions and every time Ablett touched it in the last quarter he seemed to pass to Hall

Hall was everywhere!

I swear whenever I see GC play.  They have two players I really wanted in Hall and Lynch.  Hall we could have had and Lynch went the pick before us and we wound up taking Cook instead.  That's two of the worst drafting outcomes in our history.

Oh the memories.... :o

That Tynan, Taggert and Sellar were better players?

If it weren't for the injuries at GC last season it's more than possible that Hall would have been delisted at the end of the season. The forced move into the midfield completely turned around his career.

....so lets not look at another one that got away.

I think the Suns' running patterns and movement/spacing without the ball are helping him to make better decisions.

Amazing how they have turned it around so significantly. I'm impressed with Eade's work.

'Mach', I think Eade gets underrated a bit. Lyon is a bit of a media darling as the great coach unlucky not to win a flag.

Personal opinion but I rate Eade as a better coach and wouldn't have been disappointed if he had come to Melbourne at the time we got Roos.

Hall is tearing it apart this year and I love watching him play. And right alongside him is Jack Martin. These two, in partnership with Ablett, make footy a joy to watch. We so much need the class, pace and skills of these three.

And I am a great fan of Eade. No holds barred, straight talker who can give a good spray, yet behind the scenes is a very good people-manager and players seem to reach their peak under his leadership.

In January I picked GC for the top four, and then a week or so before the season proper wasn't sure. Maybe I was right.

completely agree.

before the coup with roos, he was the guy i was most keen to pick up as a senior coach.

I always enjoy seeing players who don't hit their straps until their mid or even late 20's. It gives you hope that the players you've picked that haven't shown much in the first 2 to 3 years will come good eventually, as was the case with Jetta last year.

Most years on Demonland, there's a Youtube draft sensation we all hope we'll nab as a rookie. Most of the time, they don't come to much i.e. Casey Sibosado. I remember there being lots of talk about Hall in 2011 and I was disappointed that we didn't grab him. You can add Rockliff to the regrets category and perhaps Papley as well.

However, I'm not even sure the Melbourne environment could have drawn this form out of Hall.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
