Changes For Next Week

Recommended Posts

I’ve been critical of Harry’s output for a while now, yet still don’t want him out of the team. His harry is good but tackling and disposal are poor and the run-on is pure chaos. But it’s those negative attributes that I think could be turned into positives with a shift up forward to find some touch. His specific position can be Dawes’ feet.

Time to look to the immediate future (trade-week) and let those on the unknown fringes (obviously subjective) play out the season. Happy for White to have a taste at some stage as well.

Jetta/Tyson cotton-wooled with VdB’s in Bali. We’re playing for 13th. Tell the incomers they’re a lock for the last three barring injuries (and the Russian’s farewell) while managing the kids (Gus/Harmes/ANB/Stretch can swap in and out whenever) Sweeping changes not for the sake of punishment but for ‘team management’.

I still believe this a competitive team (with hopefully some extra incentive) and we don’t have a great deal of midfield depth to bolster the center anyway.

In: Newton, JKH, Salem, Toump, Fitz, Riley

Out: M. Jones, Bail, Brayshaw, Jetta, Grimes, Garland.

FF Garlett Hogan JKH

HF Newton Dawes Lamumba

RR Viney Gawn Vince

C Watts Jones Harmes

HB Salem McDonald Howe

FB Toumpas Dunn Fitzpatrick

Int. Cross Michie Riley

S) ANB

Good god no. I do not want Toumpas making his mistakes anywhere near the opposition goals.

Is Mitch White a chance for this week? Obviously the kid is not ready but he has been consistent at Casey, shown he has some AFL qualities and he could slot into Nev's back pocket. It's a nice time to give Mitch a look at the tempo of an AFL game at the end of the season so that he knows what it's going to take to make the grade in 2016.

White was reported as in the best for Casey. Might be good to give him a game before the year is out. Would love to see that deadly left foot of his in the seniors.

B Howe, Dunn, Salem
HB Lumumba, Garland, Grimes
C Watts, Vince, Cross
HF Stretch, Hogan, Harmes
F T McDonald, Dawes, Garlett
Fol Jamar, Viney, N Jones
Int White, Michie, Neal-Bullen, Brayshaw (sub)

In: Salem, Jamar, White, Stretch

• Gawn and Brayshaw look to be our most tired players.
• I assume Tyson is not right to go. Brayshaw can make way if he is fit.

Misson's injury report:http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-08-18/rd-21-injury-report-dave-misson

Firstly the really good news: Kent will be playing this week!!

However, Misson didn't say where but suspect it won't be the seniors.

Here's hoping he gets to play another game this year...GWS?

Summary of the rest:

Jetta - they will be conservative...I assume this means he won't play

Salem - had gastro last week so he will play

Toumpas - probably won't play as had 2 concussions in 3 weeks

Fitzpatrick - concussed last week so is 'test'

Tyson - had minor hamstring so expected to play

King - out this week

Vandenberg - season

Pedersen - may get a game in VFL before eos.

Trengove - looking good.

Petracca - improving

Forget about Kent, Lucifer. With three AFL games to go, one will be a half in the dev league, the second will be a full game in the dev league, to round out the season with a Casey seniors game. Might play finals for Casey if they do, but that's it.

Which means he copped an 18 week hamstring. Only at Melbourne.

I don't know much about Carltank's line up, because I care so little.

But if they have a tall forward line surely Fitz needs one last chance at redemption for his tunnelball.

Wouldn't mind seeing White get a run either.

Surely the opposition won't even risk a win - tanking is in their DNA. (Of course Mr Fitzpatrick will handle this with his accustomed impartiality).

Does Mfc still have untouchable players,Watts,Dawes,Garland,Howe,Lumumba they are so good as a group you would swear we have won 10 or more games. Carlton coach [censored] off Mentz and Yarran to the 2nds. Why does ROOS accepts sub standard from the

experienced players. He doesn't give a f..k. To beat the dees shut down Nat and Bernie.Perhaps Nat needs to play in another position.Changes V Blues none neccessary as the Blues are in Tanking mode.

p.s Mentz name might be mispelted by who gives a [censored]. After recieving a [censored] weak draw I would expect more!!!!

Why rest Gus now?

He's got plenty of time to have a break.....in 3 weeks' time.

Because he looks buggered. He's played every game, what's the point of risking an injury at this stage? We're not worried about September form really are we?

No, not September...but I reckon he's looked buggered since the QB game, but just keeps comin'.....I reckon he's a work horse.

About 4-5 weeks ago I thought he needed a rest, especially around the time he copped that big knock, then he came good again, but he looked really tired against the Doggies. We know he's gonna be a champion, and with Salem and Tyson coming back I think we can give Gus the week off. Don't want to run him into the ground.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
