Press Red for Ed

Featured Replies

No problem with that, but do you think it should be forced on all people who want to watch the replay, especially those who don't support the Pies? All replays are listed as the Ed version.

Fox Footy are idiots.

I recorded the replay on Sunday morning at 10.30. I couldn't believe it when I got big head Ed and some other collingwood circus clowns doing the replay. I'm going to complain to foxtel, I don't pay all that money to listen to those biased clowns. Also i'm going to ring our club to see if they can influence foxtel and the AFL to stop it happening in the future.

Just watching the Fox replay now.

Absolutely disgusting commentary by Eddie, Shaw and that non-entity 'comedian' ?Strauney??

Just plain barracking - we, we ,we, they, they, they !!!!

Ruins any opportunity to fully enjoy the victory.

What a disgrace.

PS: still in first quarter - will maybe enjoy their grief at the end.

Yes and when Jetta took that wonderful mark early in the game they didn't even bother to name him. Thick edge of the wedge having those clowns on all the replays.

Imagine if we got MCC members to do the commentary. They wouldn't know any of the players names. "Number 10 kicks it to Number 1etcre painful.

What planet are you from sport? You are more biased than Ed, however your bias seems to stem from envy or insecurity. MCC members who go to home and away matches are as passionate and informed as any other members (and include many Demonlanders). There are few 'MCC members' who don't know Brayshaw or the Hulk, even the Collingwood supporters amongst them!

Anyone can start a podcast and put it live to air.

I will be happy to get one organised for 2016 .

We could have Melbourne centric commentators but we don't necessarily need a "big" name ,in fact it would be better if we didn't.

The one I envisage will be for adults only, of course, and actually be funny and informative.

Umpire abuse allowed,swearing allowed,insults allowed.i.e comedy allowed.

I will be drawing from Demonland for "talent" and yes,I use the word loosely.

The only reason I'm enjoying this disgusting, pathetic, unprofessional, bias, one-sided commentary is because I know we win this game

It is an absolute disgrace that they let Eddie commentate Collingwood games.

I pay so much money for Foxtel so I can listen to this jackass. It's sickening

I can't believe this is allowed, it's actually making a mockery of the game

Can't wait to hear him explode later when we win!

It was a "press red" option to listen to an intentionally biased all-Collingwood commentary (Ed, Shaw et al). The actual game was called by Hudson, with Derm and Roo adding their 2c.

For some stupid reason Fox are playing the novelty commentary instead of the proper one for all the replays.

Hudson, Derm and Co during the game were throwing jibes at the Collingwood commentary team with occasional camera crossovers at key negative points for Collingwood on Eddy and his other none too joyous lackies. Perhaps the producer switched commentary for the replay to rub it in further?

Talking about bias. It was evident in the official commentary that Dermott Brereton absolutely loves Max Gawn. Never heard him praise a player so much. Definitely in the McGuire loves Buckley mould.

I don't mind Derm. He does dribble a lot, but from time to time does have points of interest to raise. He knows the game I think, you just need to see through the waffle that intersperses it.

I think Derm's theory is that if you keep talking you're bound to get something right...eventually

I have emailed FOXTEL with my complaint.

The really sad thing is that I feel that the three clowns in the box actually thought that they were being funny !!

Derm prob knows that Gawn is signing with the Hawks next season!

I have just rang Foxtel to make a complaint about Ed commentating on the replays.

Got a charming young lad who sympathised with my plight.

Was told to Email Feedback@fox sport.com.au and all feedback will be replied to or

go to their facebook page....Foxsport/aus.....If many people complain...they will change it.

I to wanted to keep this taped game but will be ditching it if this afternoons replay is still the Eddie version

Thanks for that. I have just emailed them

The only reason I have Foxtel is for the footy. Amazingly rude of them to to put a Collingwood commentary over a Melbourne win.

I just went onto their Facebook page and there are a few people complaining. I will be watching at 5.00pm to see if the replay has changed. Foxfooty is the reason I have foxtel too. We shouldn't have to put up with this crap. How many Collingwood supporters would want to watch any replay of the game?....None I would think.

I also fell for that and the worst part was they should have had warnings like the hideous pictures on cigarette packages. It was terrible and the saddest part was that Eddies commentary wasn't much different to what he usual serves up during Collingwood games

Could not agree more - funny to see Ed and Co doing a game they no doubt thought was a certain win - but I, to, also want to record the game with the proper commentary - well as proper as we can get.

There is at least one more Foxtel replay of the game this week - we should lobby them to ensure that we get the non Eddie commentary - it might be a novelty for the execs at the network but it makes watching the replay a PITA.

Might not work this time, but hopefully will make an impact for next time.

Due to committments with my girlfirends family all weekend, I missed all my favourite sports.
The replay I got to watch until 12:30 sunday made the Family lunch all the more sour.
fuming at life. I need another weekend

I bet the W@nker Fox Footy execs think Fat Eddie is so funny so we'll replay him and his 3 loser idiots 4 times

I'm still keeping the replay to watch over summer and think back how we put those mongrels out of the finals race (barring a miracle)

I'll just watch it with the sound turned down and the bonus is you don't get Dermott either!!!

After all,it's all about SEEING how we beat them and who played well, not hearing what we're seeing.

I like Peter Helliar, and the Project has its moment of grandiose grandstanding but at least they attempt to discuss matters that matter. Most shows we watch don't bother, or those that should spend their time doing whatever it is that 60 Minutes are doing. I don't really know how to describe it - 'faux journalism'?

Different strokes, hey?

And I don't even Ed likes doing that commentary - Shaw spoke briefly about it on 3AW after the match and he sounded sick of it.

The official commentary is still on the AFL app replay.

I watched the last quarter and a half of the Press Red replay on Foxtel yesterday and loved it. It was gold when all they could do each time we had a shot for goal was go 'miss...miss'.

I did also watch the full replay with the normal commentary on AFL TV last night. There's a lot of love for Jesse, Maxy and Angus Brayshaw from the commentators. Vanders gets the big tick too.

I wish there was a button where you could see Ed's head explode....

I get that but why the [censored] would they put that on the replay, given we won.

It's made watching the replay impossible.

Hope like hell this afternoon's replay that I'm recording is better!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
