Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This really is the MFC 2015 GF.

Win & we are 5-8 with a good draw coming up, confidence will be high and we are still a live chance.

Lose & we go 4-9 all over, playing to show improvement for next year again.

Hogan, Garland, JKH should all play, all or nothing.

Given that Garland is fit, I'd say D Andrew has it about right. It will be interesting to see what percentage of the game Gawn and Spencer will be on the ground at the same time.

Its bloody amazing that Stretch and ANB get games ahead of players like Bail and Riley who have been in the game a lot longer than them, well done to them...

Worried about us going in too tall. It worked at the Cattery in perfect conditions, but a night game in Darwin will be played in slippery conditions that aren't conducive to taller players. Happy to back the selection committee, but if we bring in both Hogan and Garland then at least one tall player needs to make way as well.

Pick the best team possible, tall or small.

I don't think it's that simple to be honest. Pick the best team, but the team has to be suited to the conditions and the opposition. It's no good picking a side that is in the best form but then seeing them run off their feet because we didn't select the correct side. If we were playing this in WA or the G then I'd be happy with the selections, but we know what the conditions are like up north. Very happy to stand corrected if we win though.

I'd like the Toump to get a good run, give him some further confidence and not drop him on the back of one average game.

Edit: Terrible spelling.

Don't get my wrong I rate the Toump but I am concerned in the humidity and taking an extra tall can he go the distance. Very happy he is in the side..

Absolute rubbish.

Probably says a bit more about Bail and Riley to be honest. But good on them.

I think the reasoning would be as follows: Dawes and Hogan should benefit each other in tandem. Dawes will play the same lead up game that's important regardless of conditions, he can't mark anyway so the conditions don't make him worse. Hogan moves as well as any small forward option. Scrappy games means a heap of stoppages. We need 2 rucks and don't have a better option, so Spencer plays. Howe's a better option as a small forward than anyone else as well.

Unfortunately with Frost and Pedersen both injured we are short on forward/ruck options. Fitzy has been injured and isn't reliable enough to pick yet.

Sometimes you have to grind out a win without a perfectly set up team.

It's pretty crazy to think that if we had no injuries we'd also potentially have to find room for Vandenberg, Salem, Kent, Grimes, Petracca and Trengove... very good signs

Yes moreso when you consider that Vanders was a complete surprise packet!

Interesting that for weeks Demonlanders have been selecting (or commenting on) potential teams on the basis that it is going to be wet and slippery (e.g. Don't go,tall)! What if it's dry?

I think we have gone too tall, wet or dry.

Every year we (or any other side) has been up there the humidity and other conditions have led to the ball being greasy and hard to control. The weather has been dry but the game played in slippery conditions. You'd have to ask a local but I presume it would be the same.

JKH in for Dawes, Spencer or (if not 100% fit) Hogan would certainly still be a possibility.

Grimes isn't best 22, but Salem would take his spot anyway. Next year, Kent will take Howe's. Not sure Trengove is best 22. He'd have to prove himself at VFL level first. With a few more Roos/Taylor/Viney specials this off season and we'll start to see some depth in some of these positions emerge.

Agree. We are building the foundations and lifting our standards. The two ex co-captains are no way in our best 22 unless they work their rears into oblivion. And Trengove won't be in our starting midfield next year unless he discovers unicorn blood

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
