Apart from our skipper, and maybe Dawes, Vince and Herieter Lumumba, I have no idea. It's an interesting scenario if our top ten highest paid are comparable to money paid to the top 10 players in the top 6 teams.

I know the salary cap plays a part, and I would be interested to know if we will have plenty of coin available to lure an A grade midfielder?

I don't want to get into what players deserve what they get etc, however it's relevant if they are continually under performing .

A more interesting question would be, who SHOULD our top 10 paid players be?

1 Hogan

2 Hogan

3 Hogan

4 Hogan

5 Jones

6 Hogan

7 Hogan

8 Hogan

9 Hogan

10 Hogan

Soooooo you think Hogan should be in our top 10 highest paid? Edited by Ethan Tremblay

1. N. Jones (skipper should get the most)

2. Hogan

3. T. McDonald

4. Vince

5. Petracca

6. Brayshaw

7. Viney

8. Tyson

9. Salem

10. Cross

Is what it should be. For what it actually is i'd expect Dawes, Lumumba, Garland, Dunn, Watts and Trenners to all be up in there ahead of the kids.

Best guess:

$500+ Jones, Dawes, Hogan (from 2016)

$300- $500 Grimes (ex capt salary), Trengove (ex capt salary), Watts, Lumumba, Vince, Dunn, Jamar, Garland, McDonald

Not much change their in 2016 (excluding list changes) except include Howe on the list.

In a few years I would Viney, Salem, Petracca, Tyson, Hogan, Brayshaw etc to be up there.

In terms of the salary cap Mahoney said early this season that we at the max.

Hogan doesn't go up in pay til next year which is a lazy increase of nearly half a mil a year haha

Id say

Jones

Dawes

Lamumba

Vince

Tyson

Mcdonald

Dunn

Grimes

Trengove

Dunn

Petracca over Bradshaw but he hasn't played any games? interesting.

Remember hearing Lumumba was on $600k and Dawes $650k. What they should get is a whole other matter.

Reckon Jones must be on about $750k, Hogan $500k and Vince $450k. Just a guess, of course.

Most of them are grossly over paid Song

i know, many have said on here before (and i totally agree), that as we all have to pay roughly similar salary caps it is disgusting to think that some players on our list are on the same amount of money as the good/great/excellent/elite players at your league leading clubs such as Sydney, Hawks, Freo etc.

Hogan signed a two year extension at over 500k a year before he'd played a game.

Totally agree. That's why I get so annoyed when the coach talks about a lack of effort on the part of the players. Most of them are ridiculously overpaid. It's a shame the Club has to pay up to the cap, and the players cant be paid on a performance basis.

Players have all sorts of clauses in their contracts that are of benefit to them, I wonder if the club has any of their in there?

Rhetorical question....

have been thinking as much, our only hope is that Grimes and Dawes had their contracts heavily front loaded. If we managed it right we could offer massive $$$$ to lure someone and not stuff our list going forward in terms of player retention.

all i know is that every year we say we "have a war chest" to go and lure/catch a big fish. Every year we end up empty handed and have to go and buy a fillet-o-fish at Maccas instead. I'd prefer the club don't say anything rather than get my hopes up.

To be fair, I'm not sure this has been the message since Roos arrived. He, Taylor and Viney have gone about their business efficiently and quietly.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
