If Viney and Vanders are both out then we need inside mids so bring in both ANB and Tyson. But if it's just Vanders out then I'm actually leaning towards Harmes on a half forward flank, the reports from Casey have been encouraging and whilst ANB might be a better long term player I don't mind letting him produce consistently at Casey. Harmes might be better suited to half forward with a bit more pace and x factor. A bit taller as well so might be able to do more in the air.

There was a moment from Toumpas which summed him up for me. He took a mark on the half back flank, was ten metres in the clear and before even turning around to look down the ground he handpassed the ball backwards to Gawn who then turned it over. He just has no attacking instinct and still panics too much, I'm sure his stats look fine but that's about it.

The guy is still finding his feet but is doing enough of the good stuff to keep persisting. Geez you would think new guys just have to start like Chris Judd or their banished and thrown out the door. how about his helping with some much improved disposal yesterday and creating some run and carry.

It is a nice position that changes thus week should make us better.

In Tyson, ANB

Out Vandenburg, Newton

Give concrete hands a couple of weeks at Casey, get him 100% before he comes in. The other issue with Dawes he won't ruck, I don't mind what they did with Fitzy yesterday, when White rucked so did he.

Hopefully after the bye we start seeing our best 22 play, we need Kent, Salem, Dawes, Tyson and JKH in our line up. I still think a little bit of luck we get 8-10wins for the year. We will get the Pies next time we play them.

yes we lost some momentum, Re Jetta & Viney, since their injuries. TMac & Hogan, since they got the media accolades, have slowed off a bit.

I hope that you are not suggesting that TM and JH heads became swollen by the media accolades. Maybe that has brought more opposition attention and homework on them.

Or, maybe, they just had an off day; someone that happens to every player.

Who would Fitzy line up on this week?

Saints run two ruck men resting one up forward.

Dunn is a stupid footballer and is no leader. I've given up on Garland also. Both momentum killers. Would rather have Grimes in the team, his disposal was improving and he at least has some leadership qualities.

Oh how we miss the rebounding speed of Frost and the creativity and speed of Kent. With all our list's NQR's we are at a critical mass of shitness. The quicker we can move on the remaining 20% of the old NQR brigade, the quicker we become better than competitive.

Let's raise the bar higher gentlemen and women!

You are saving or the bookies?

Sorry I don't know what your talking about. I just like to look at the odds to get an idea of people's perceptions about us compared to other teams. I think saints being favourites is rather surprising.

Why? They've got a better % than us and more recent wins, plus they're only favourites by 10c, hardly amazing given it's only Monday.

Love what Roosy has and is doing...and love his pull in the media. Love the respect with which he is held and that he came here in the first place. But....to say " the players dont listen" like he had didnt have any power in the box and via runners is dumb.

Unless of course it's true. Paul Roos has never been shy at accepting responsibility where it is due, so to assume he's unfairly making the players accountable is ......... dumb.

The Etihad factor will be worth a 50c differential I reckon. Definitely a home ground advantage for them.

Saints favourites

And so they should be. St Kilda have had a bette season than Melbourne.

Then there's the little stat that the last time we won at Docklands the iPhone hadn't even been invented yet.

Lost the game for many reasons but selecting MJones instead of Tyson as sub must have been a big call, the wrong call.

IN Tyson, Dawes, ANB

OUT Vanders, MJones, Brayshaw

Playing Brayshaw into the ground is the kind of rubbish decision of Melbourne past.

Mitchie in for Viney if injured.

Is there any evidence he is being overworked? The bye is not far away. Or also rest him against Geelong where the chance of him being in a win is lower.

Tyson was better off playing a full game at Casey to gain some match fitness not as the sub.. And no Brayshaw will not be rested this week. I dare say they will be managing his workloads during the weeks anyway

My question was is that the bookies price?

Or do you think they are they favorites?

Is that clear now?

You want to wait for the evidence?!

First year kid + on Etihad + toughest opening fixture + rising star win + know when you're on top = manage

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
