Was my favourite as a kid and I wore his number... also loved it when he and Lenny were running around in the same colours.

My kids are at school with Hassa's grandkids - it's pretty awesome having a chat about the footy with a club legend (and a good bloke).

Lives in Eltham next to my daughters school...MFC legend. My old man was on the list when he played...says he is a terrific bloke.

Kicked a great 15. Mtre snapped goal from boundary line with seconds to siren and snatch a win against hawks at glen ferrite oval after trailing all day.

Remember seeing a Hassa kick a bag against the swans from the centre - can't remember if it was 7 or 9.

One of my fondest footy memories

It was 7. But not from the centre - we'd put him on the ball to try and quieten down Skilton...

Who was your old man Beetle?

Indeed I was still a kid and "Hassa" was was a real hero. Number 29 If my memory serves me. Like Crompton, Hassa had a famous moment in 1964.

This bloke is one of our greats - Hassa

Hassa was right up there with Barassi in my childhood memories. He had a habit of kicking winning goals at the death, most famously:

That was well before my time (I was born in 1982) but I still love watching old footage like that regardless of the teams playing but especially considering it was our halcyon days. I was able to get that copy through trading with langers who sometimes posts here looking for old games. His collection is monstrous and it would be good if the clubs or the league invested in storing this old footage - unfortunately neither seem to give a crap and many of these old games are only available through personal collectors.

Channel 7 also threw away or taped over a majority of their catalogue which is a crime in itself - I can't fathom how the only copy that exists of the 64 GF is old newsreel type footage.

Dr. G When videotape was first used at TV Stations it was very expensive. Sadly the same happened at the ABC. Shows were aired then erased and the tape stock re used...over and over...

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
