Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If you were to freeze the ladder where it is now our first pick in the draft will be pick 4. So:

Howe, Grimes, Pick 4 & 22 to Gold Coast for

Prestia, Dixon, Gorringe & Pick 56.

Fitzpatrick to Port Adelaide

Port trade Mason Shaw to Fremantle

Freo trade us Hayden Crozier

Watts & Pick 40 to Brisbane

Pick 21 back to us.

Picks 56 & 58 to Adelaide

They could be willing to send Pick 48 back given their draft sanctions previously.

So Prestia (midfielder), Crozier (medium forward/mid), Dixon (key forward/relief ruck), Gorringe (ruck) come in along with picks 21 & 48.

OUT: Watts, Howe, Grimes, Fitzpatrick, Picks 4, 22, 40 & 58.

I can dream can't I!

You mustn't like Freo, you've just ripped them off. This isn't the 90's, I doubt they'll bite on that.

Like your creativity though bud.

Think we might get more out of Brisbane if we can offload Dawes to them. They're desperate for a kpf (Watts clearly not a kpf). We might be able to extract Aish from them.

Will Hoskin-Elliott has re-signed with GWS.

He was one of the ones expected to walk.

And apparently Shiel is close to re-signing too. Treloar and Coniglio the remaining higher quality OOC yet to re-sign. GWS will likely be open to offers on their second tier players in order to preserve future draft picks after bidding for high quality academy kids in Hopper and Kennedy.

Tomlinson could be gettable. Anybody else we'd be interested in extracting (don't think Kelly and Whitfield are gettable just yet)?

Think we could find a spot for Curtly Hampton, and I know we had strong interest in Lachie Plowman in his draft year. Buntine and Haynes appear to have grabbed back line spots, so Plowman is probably at the back of queue and tradeable.

Wonder if they'd take offers for Patton now that McCarthy has emerged?

If they were both gettable, which one would you take 'Chaser'?

Whitfield. There's not a lot in it, their game styles have a lot of similarities, but I rate Whitfield's kicking (and general all round game) that 10-15% higher than Kelly's.

I feel that Whitfield's got a few more natural gifts, Kelly perhaps has to work a little bit harder to hurt you, Kelly possibly works back harder the other way. Both should have very good careers.

Tomlinson would be a good replacement for Dawes...

They may look at Patton as a ruck/forward option but you would have to be concerned with his knee problems

I'm usually the last person to lose faith in any given player, but I've finally cracked.

Dawes, Watts, Jamar, Bail, Howe, Terlich.

On current, sustained form, what do we really lose from our best 22 if all of them are moved on at the end of the season?

Between the two of them Watts and Howe = Andrew Walker in both the roles covered and output. and Walker is a good but not great player. That's clearly not a 'winning' scenario and unless there is major change in the next 10 rounds, it is over.

Bail I love, but I am also finally prepared to let go of the dream of him making it to consistent AFL-22 level.

Jamar looks to have decided to set down his burden and go fishing.

Terlich... after so many years... nup.

Dawes is a depth CHF, and for all his work ethic, square head and neatly trimmed facial hair, he just isn't a 'threat' on the field.

Anyway, that's six spots and a fair amount of salary cap space opened up, and NO extra holes to fill.

Agree with most, except your comment that there's not a lot in it.

10-15% is a fair chunk in my book!

Whitfield easily over the "future Brownlow medallist."

Kelly is a more realistic target. If he was to opt out, he could nominate Melbourne.

He is close with Salem. If I were in his boots I'd actually opt out and nominate MFC.

We will be well placed to receive an early pick, package it up with Howe - and she's a done deal.

If GWS are even in a position to keep Kelly - after the amount they will be paying Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio - then they have a 'bottomless wallet'.

It's time MFC broke out this 'war chest' that we harped on about. Have we played the long game? I hope so.

Beat me to it. Dawes can join Howe/Watts/Grimes as "must go" players. We are pushing s__t up hill as it is. I don't expect to get much back in return but for me it could possibly free up as much as 1.6 in the salary cap(obviously dependant on front loading). That's the key, freeing up the cash to allow us to target mids.

Tendai Mzungu cannot get a game at the moment and is a big body mid that would really add to our midfield. He turns 30 early next year.

Tendai would improve our midfield straight away. Hard, great link-up player. Would get a game in 15 other teams. Age counts against him but I see him as a quicker, younger version of Crossy, whom I think he could replace on our list.

DYLAN Shiel has resisted lucrative offers from Victorian clubs to re-sign with the GWS Giants.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Shiel has signed a two-year contract extension that will tie him to the club until the end of 2017.

“It’s a relief to get it all done,” Shiel told the Daily Telegraph.

“Now I can focus on building on this season with the club.”

Gws rate kelly, they'd ask for half our list

I don't think they'll be able to hold on to their entire list though. Too many top picks in there that it'd be very difficult to keep them all happy. I can see us getting someone from GWS at the end of this season. Who, I don't know.

Agree with others as I would have Whitfield over Kelly but wouldn't say no to either at the right price. Also would be keen on Carlisle if the asking price wasn't to great but it will be due to the fact KPT'S are a rare commodity and Bombers aren't the easiest to deal with. I would be looking at Carlisle as a defender as opposed to forward, think with he at CHB and TMac at FB we would have a nice backline in the years ahead

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
