You would surely not play Tyson unless you were 100% convinced of his fitness. Given the performance we've just come off, I don't see us as being in a position where we need to take any unnecessary risks. I get the impression that this ultra-conservative approach is what they've taken with Viney, based on his listing as "available" in the injury list as well as TDI's comment that Jetta said that he (Jetta) and Viney had been trained on a programme with a view to coming straight back in to the side.

Take the ultra-conservative approach with Tyson and get him fit. Likewise Dawes - given that he's slow to begin with, I can't see the point in playing him if he's not able to run at 100%.

A lot of talk about players being fatigued. Looking spent when they come off and go to the bench.

That's what I want to see more of. If they are spent they have definitely had a crack.

Not like in the past when coming off they couldn't blow out a candle.

Agree Curry, Vince has really added some mongrel to his game, presumably at the direction of Roos and the coaching staff. Last year he seemed to be mainly an outside player but now he is both inside and outside. A more valuable player to the team.

They made this point last night on AFL 360. Said he is nothing like the outside player that was recruited from Adelaide. Has become a real weapon under Roosy's watch, with a touch of agro about him.

And, he really seems to be enjoying himself in the new role. (Almost comes across as the mischievous kid who is managing to get away with his mischief, with that cheeky grin of his!)

He has little confidence in his marking at the minute for whatever reason but he is a better player than Pedersen and I hope he can get some fitness and touch back - we are a better team with a fit and in form Chris Dawes.

We are a better list with a fit and firing Dawes. Maybe not quite a better team.

His inability to mark has been consistent since his late Collingwood days and he can't ruck. So we will always be better with another option besides Hogan and Dawes to fill the back up ruck spot.

Plan A at the start of the year was Hogan, Dawes, Frost because Frost provides the speed and defensive pressure to play 3 big guys. We've tried many combinations since but the plan at the moment is Hogan, Pedersen, Howe.

I'd like to give Hogan, Pedersen and Dawes the opportunity to work as a trio. I think Hogan's smarts and ability to play up the ground, Pedersen's ruck stints and Dawes' defensive efforts can see them work together. What I don't see the need for is making the change to the current plan until Dawes is fully fit again and I'd have him establish that fitness and form at Casey first.

Interesting, my problem with frost is that he didn't really get many marks when he played (would really have liked to see him use his speed better like frawley did last year to get a lot of push off accelerate away and mark type action), and i believe his kicking is not up to the standard i'd like yet. But his tackling, size and speed are all big positives! And he is young . I do love the idea of a team of fast players haha

At the moment (excluding injury), he's earning games based on his versatility around the ground. I'd be expecting 18 months to 2 years time he will be a lock in our backline.

This is a bit off topic, but what do people on here think of the possibility of TMac eventually playing forward, similar to how Neitz's career progressed? He's a terrific mark, can run all day, and was a forward in his junior days wasn't he? Fix up the set shots and he and Hogan could be a really dynamic KPF combo. This is all dependent of course if Frost can develop into TMac's equal as a defender.

I think he will play back as well. Dawes & Peders in the same team makes us too slow up forward, Dawes alone can't ruck.

Love Jetta, but am slightly concerned that if he replaces a forward (Bail or M Jones) and Grimes stays in (who played well as back pocket on the small forward) this will force Grimes to play on a slightly bigger guy and further up the field, which are 2 things Grimes doesn't seem to do as well as playing back pocket on the smallest forward. Therefor we could be weakened because all those other defensive positions seem better played by either Garland, Dunn, TMac, Fitzpatrick, Lamumba, Frost, Salem…. IMHO, for team balance, Grimes and Jetta are or should be, playing for the same spot atm.

"Team balance" is surely in the context of the opposition. i.e. last weeks team balanced well against Doggies, but changes may be required to be as well balanced vs Port...
