I guess it says a lot about our past eight years and depths of despair to which we sank.

We are so pumped up ( me included ) after that good win yesterday that we easily forget that it was against a team

dwelling in the same bottom half of the competition as ourselves.

It is a good sign that we were able to beat the dogs but it is still a win against a lower ranked team.

The next two weeks will be interesting

We are playing two sides who have resided in the upper half of the competition over the last few years.

A win against one or both of them would really prove we are on the way out of the irrelevance camp.

I would love to beat the pies that would make my year.

Without Bail and Matt Jones we may not have won the game.

The WB main weapon this year has been Murphy and Johanasens run from half back. Bail and Jones both played defensive forward roles on these two and where a huge reason we won the game by limiting the dogs run.

People need to take the blinkers off at times and stop looking at super coach scores.

Agree GT, just finished watching the replay and they both played important roles yesterday. They might be considered unlucky with Viney, Jetta and Tyson nearly set to return.

Is Toumpas the only player that's not allowed to make mistakes?

Just imagine if it was Toumpas and not Jones you kicked it straight to Stringer when he kicked the dribble goal.

Nathan Jones actually lead the clanger count, and that one was the worst anyone in the team made. VandenBerg made a couple of bad ones too.

I agree that the selective micro-analysis of certain individual mistakes is getting really tiresome.

I guess once some have decided that Toumpas is a dud, it's really hard to admit that he had a good game, even if it wasn't perfect. Other players have their errors overlooked because if their overall positive contribution to the game, but Toumpas doesn't get the same courtesy.

Nasher I think you are being a bit over defensive of Toumpas.

The guy has up until yesterday IMO never played a game that justified his selection the following week.

Finally after 2. 5 seasons a good game

He needs now to back up yesterdays good game with another against Port next weekend that will help convince everyone he is not a dud as you put it.

You'd hope Jones and Bail were high on efficiency with 4 and 2 kicks respectively.

In saying that they worked hard when required and there was very little run from the Doggies out of the back 6 that was pressure free. These guys and the other fwds did well in that respect.

Maybe he's just getting dumber (was going to say stupider but thought that was even less of a word than dumber).

His comment regarding Hogan was totally unfounded and I have no idea what made him say it. Maybe he just couldn't find a negative thing to say about Hogan and that was the best he could come up with.

Hogan is a champ and I would happily dig into my own pockets to keep him at the club.

Obviously the Bail missing 20% was that dreadful kick for goal at three quarter time.

At the time he marked the ball there was a MFC player 12 metres out on his own and Bail ignored him.

A goal then would have snuffed out the Dogs before the last quarter started.

Fortunately the Dees went on to win easily in the end so everyone forgets about Bail.

Couldn't get to the game, just finished watching the replay .... so good. Bail, from what I could see, played ok. He needs to get more momentum up when kicking for goal. Toumpas was pumped after that positive goal review - great to see. Nice pressure and work-rate from the backs. Forward contests had the dogs worried. vandenBerg. Double win with the girls getting up pre-match.

So. Good.

Yeah, that stood out for me too.

Hope that moment was a little bit of weight lifting from his shoulders. Toumpas puts enough weight on his own shoulders, never mind the commentary about him being a bust and constant comparisons with Wines. Hope we see him build on his performance.

Also loved Hogan’s reaction to Howey’s hanger in the third quarter. Was in a great position to see the grab and just clapped and laughed as he ran past Howe. Jones also had a laugh and then probably told Jeremy to take his time and have a shot.

The game went for another 2 minutes after he decided to take a shot.

Why is it that Bail thinks he can kick goals from a standing position in front?

His results so far in that same position are woeful.

Yes I am not a fan.

He actually played well yesterday IMO even though the stats do not support it.

Dogs were below their best, but Dees hunted them in numbers, attack on the ball was relentless.

Roos and Co should be commended for getting the boys right between the ears.

When he first got the ball the MFC player was in the square with no Dogs player for 20 metres.

Simple pass over the top and a goal.

There are many times where a player is free. But that is only half the equation. The player has to be able to get it to the free player.

With the free player directly behind the man on the mark, Bail would have had to go back quickly and then lob the ball over the man on the mark to the free player. This means that the ball hangs in the air and, with AFL speed, these almost always allow the opposition time to make a contest. That's why you see so many sideways kicks, because you can get the ball to the receiving player quickly and lowly. It's also why playing on is so effective, because when you are 2 metres wider you have removed the man on the mark from the kick.

It would have been the easier option to dish off, but he took responsibility and backed himself. It was a regulation shot though and a bad miss.
