Morton had a few good games.

we need consistency.

No sh!t.

Seriously, just try being happy for once. Just once. You don't need to start talking about how we're so good we're going to make finals and Toumpas is odds-on for the Brownlow, but just try being positive every now and again. It feels good you know.

it is a rubbish thread.

i have to admit i thought watching at the ground, Toumpas had a poor game but after watching the replay I'll take that back. He had a very solid running game, blemished by a few clangers (which much have stood out for me at the game)

if Toumpas played like that most games of his career, he would retire a loved and well respected MFC player, and a solid draft pick.

I think with a few more games like that the deer in the headlight moments may disappear.

Still seems a little reluctant to make physical contact.

Would like to see his use the run and speed which got him drafted

had the run. I was at the game, so you can see how he runs lengths of the ground to link up. Similar to Watts. You can't see that on telly.

Certainly doesn't have the speed yet.

I thought you wanted him out?

Jury is still out. Today was his best game

He still concerns me with his pace

But at least he only shat himself once today..

This is the guy we recruited today. Confidence was up which was good to see.

Hopefully we get to see Jimmy on the rise from here.

So generous of you.

While he did have some very bad moments he kept at it, won a couple of contests in spectacular fashion and was a real contributor.

Why not go with that. Live in the moment, as Neale D used to say.

You can hang s*&$ on him later if that's appropriate but be decent enough to acknowledge he made a difference.

Today's performance while encouraging is totally irrelevant if he doesn't back It up next week, he showed far more courage both in his attack on the ball, and in his decisions with ball in hand and the level of his gut running was an example of why he went at number 4 in the draft, that is the standard I expect to see as a minimum from now though, the kid has ability Now he just needs to keep the momentum and build

Not sure why people open a thread to say crap thread? Do these same people walk into stores they don't like to say 'crap store?' Or visit newspaper companies they don't like to say 'crap newspaper'?

Some people need to get a life

That said ToumpAs game yesterday was the first semi solid game he has played and he definitely showed a bit. I'm hopeful he can now string a couple more together and really cement himself in starting 22 and look dangerous to the opposition.

Worst thread (well, thread idea) I have ever seen on this forum

Cool story bro, that must be why you opened it to have a read

Definitely not going to get carried away but very happy he played well. I think with another pre season he may start to get that speed back that he seemed to have lost due to the hip surgery. I still have a feeling he will turn out to be a solid AFL wing/half forward who can also have stints in the middle.

Resilience and toughness and competitiveness have been the 42-year-old's non-negotiables, just as they were for the GWS recruiters as they selected the game's best young talent. Cameron said the Giants' on-field emergence this season can be put down to those qualities. "If they come to your club competitive, then you can build that culture really quickly," he said. "If they come highly skilled and just a little bit competitive it can take longer. You need talent and you need good decision-making but the underlying factor has to be competitiveness.

The above quote is from Leon Cameron. Pretty much to me explains why they over looked Toumpas and is one of the reason we went so wrong with a lot of our draft choices.

They went with O'Rourke over Toumpas so I don't think that is 100% correct as he seems a similar sort of player.

If they were simply drafting for competitiveness they would've taken Wines. I think Toumpas will have a strong second half to this season which he can build on to really come on next year, which is perfectly fine as he is still only 21.

... and he's still only played 22 games.

He showed a bit yesterday - positive signs.

Runs hard to position but I wouldn't call him a true gut runner ... yet

Always been a huge Leon Cameron fan. Loved him as a player and he's as smart a coach as he was a player.

But let's face it, GWS had so many high draft picks that they couldn't lose. They were always going to be a fearsome team at some stage. It was a matter of when, not if.

It's like someone who's inherited a trillion dollars telling everyone the secret of how to make money.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
