Listened to him in the radio this morning. Mick is amazing at taking no responsibility at all for where a club is at. He is good at throwing others under the bus them saying I can't comment on their behalf.

He got Trigg, the president and the entire board this morning. Going to miss you Mick.

Threw a few grenades this morning that's for sure.

Going to be interesting to see how Trigg and the AFL wriggle out of the Eddie Betts story. Trigg should not have been allowed back into footy, Waldron won't get a gig back in the NRL.

...but that's integrity for you.

Mick certainly came out swinging this morning.

Trigg is still dodgy. Still cannot believe he has another AFL CEO job

Carlton are about to have a civil war

Marvellous....

It is strange

It appears that somehow Trigg and coy think they can engineer Mick into resigning and forgoing his last half of 2015 salary.

Mick is not falling for that one and neither would I.

It is obvious to every football follower in the land they want him out.

So do it guys or risk looking even sillier than you look at present.

If An influential Carlton member raised an election ticket at the moment they would IMO be swept into office.

All the Carlton members I know think this board and management are hopeless and should get out of the road

Can't feel too much sympathy for MM. He's one of the biggest c-nuts in the game.

But Carlton ... why oh why did you hire this guy? He can coach, no doubt.

But they thought in their folly that they were going to add him as the icing on the cake and land them a flag within 3 years.

Malthouse doesn't do that. Didn't do it at the Dogs, at the Weagles, or the Pies.

He takes around 3 years to mould the team to his "way" and then shoots for flags.

They were at cross purposes from day one.

What can they possibly gain from sacking him now that couldn't be achieved at the end of the year?

Fetch the popcorn.

Any bets on who will take over from him in a week or two?

PS. 'Any bets' as opposed to Eddie Betts

The problem is that from early this year they started making statements that suggested he was out of favour.

Then the losses start to mount and still sillier statements.

They backed themselves into a corner and now there is only one way out.

They should have said from day one of 2015 MM is the coach for 2015 and will be discussed at the end of the year.

Then forever after when asked just refer to the early statement and no further comment.

But they did not follow that line they kept adding comments and making it worse.

The latest one that said he position would be discussed at the break was just suicidal.

Now they have to make a decision

Yep, they've mangled it.

They should have said, Mick, that's it. We will let you go out with dignity, so you're coaching to the end of the season. But play the kids. Meanwhile we're going to go and find our next coach.

But they've ballsed it up!!!!!!!!!!

God I hope they give the Swans a run for their money this weekend.

Some things I'd like to see.

Carlton sack Malthouse but reinstate him the next day after legal threats.

Carlton sack Malthouse and then ask him to sit on the panel that chooses the next coach.

Steven Trigg and Eddie Bett's manager sue each other.

Bruce Mathieson calls for a spill of the board and withdraws his pokies.

Calrton tell MM this is his last match and then Carlton beat Sydney on Friday.

This one would be the grand daddy of the lot.

I thought it was funny on AFL360 last night that Robbo came out and said (I'm paraphrasing here) that while he respected Malthouse as a coach he had absolutely no respect for him as a person. I wonder if he failing in getting the respect of his players as a person, as opposed to failing as a coach.

wouldn't take too much notice of anything that comes out of slobbo's mouth, hardtack

he's definitely someone who's not much of a person

Well usually I don't, but this was his opinion of Malthouse as a person... and as someone who has no doubt had plenty of contact with him, I suppose it has to be worth something. That's why I wondered whether that could explain the blues poor performances.

The drunken sot wouldn't be the only one.

Connelly doesn't like him much either.

They'll be queueing up to sink the boots in once his career has officially had the door slammed.

Can't say I blame them. He's the biggest hypocrite in football.

Given that when Malthouse and Robbo were both on SEN Friday night footy as regulars a few years back and Malthouse wouldn't be in the same room as him well...just maybe there is a history between the 2.

A bit of it is to do with MM not rating opinions of anyone who hasn't played the game at the highest level...plus he had Dermott sucking so hard it was embarrassing.

Hardtack I am not sure if you are aware that Robbo and Mick have had an ongoing feud for some years.

It relates to Mick being unable to suffer those who he considers fools.

I have heard him basically ignore questions from Robbo on radio over a number of years.

To Robbo's credit I have heard him acknowledge this is the problem with his dealings with Mick

We all know about the Stevens / Mick clashes on Channel 7.

The list is of course long.

There are number of Journo's who have endured his wrath over the years.

People have long memories and guess what it is now get even time

Quite happy to have the entire AFL world looking at another club's failings, rather than our own.

Spot on rjay. I have heard Robbo say very similar.

After that interview this morning, Malthouse's position in untenable. That said, Carlton put out a statement and say the timeline for the review is still the same - a decision will be made during the bye week. Mick has fired the first serious shot and leaves the Carlton administration in a position where it must act. Not only has he basically said he has no faith in the Board, but the Board has no faith in him. If it does nothing this will just fester. This is clearly worse than the players not performing, but goes far deeper into the club, than we can imagine.

Do Carlton fire him and pay him out - which Mick clearly wants, or do they save some money and continue their downward spiral? Makes the Schwab, Connolly and McLardy sagas seem tame by comparison.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
