I smell an upset as well. Go Dees

I have a feeling we are all going to be upset.

Next 3 weeks will be tough - all we can hope for is the boys don't drop their heads and go back into their shell like last year.

Well it took 5 rounds for us to bring a player in that likely wont be on the list next season and isn't part of the future

Usually we have 8 or 9 of those types in our Round 1 team as we start the season with a crushing defeat.

Things are so much nicer now.

The list is getting stronger. Our depth players are depth now, not best 22.

Grimes has his chance to show all supporters on here that he still has it. I hope Roos is right on this. Me I believe the game has gone past JG as he is no where stong enough and he is damaged goods due to the crap he has had to put up with during his career. I really hope he comes through.

i dont understand the problem, on the positive he's a great tagger & tackler, on the negative his disposal has been as bad as half our side for the majority of there careers, would we gain better disposal from who

I am sure that mcKenzie will compete well and play a role I am not so sure about Grimes

This is the first match that we will see Grimes and MacKenzie this year......All we have to go on, is last years form and like all our players was pretty average

After another preseason does anyone think that they might have improved as have the rest of the side???

How about we give them a go before ripping into them and tearing our hair out (Too late for me)

Hope both boys do well and contribute to the side.

Any Casey watchers out there able to explain McKenzie's roles for the first few games? Has he been tagging? Or has he been more of a inside mid? HBF/HFF? just wondering if they have been giving him a licence to actually play as opposed to just being a stopper

as I keep saying, we might find that these 2 players look considerably better simply due to the fact that team around them is no longer pitiful and getting smacked hard every week. It happens with good sides, ordinary players look better.

I agree, but we can't afford any more players of their quality in the side before things start going back to how they once were.

I thought Grimes did look an improved player during NAB Cup. If he picks up where he left off there then he'll do fine.

It's to his credit how he's taken playing at Casey in his stride. You could see in the rooms after both wins that he was genuinely rapt to get the win despite not being a part of it. Ultimate team player and clubman.

With their dangerous smalls, Jetta's omission will hurt, but Grimes will understand his role and for whatever his faults you know you will get 100% effort.

Dawes is out, Pedersen is in.

Read it here.

Wow.

Well, the depth is getting its first real test. Fortunate that Pedo is in decent form.

Dawes, Kent and Jetta all out from last weeks great win, Viney sidelined still.

Will be a miracle if we roll Freo

Pedo will have a crack and he is a little better when it comes to being the second ruck. Hopefully he can bring something positive on Sunday.

Agreed. Also have a bit more confidence in his marking ability. But Dawes did set the tone early last week, along with Kent. It will be up to others to do that this week.

Dawes arms are probably sore from taking a few marks last week - those muscles have become deconditioned

The good is we have players coming in who have shown consistent form at Casey. They will know if they don't perform they will be the first ones out of the side. Truthfully if I had a choice of a bad injury patch over the next three weeks against top sides or later on against the sides outside the top 4 I will take it now.

Pedo has real chance to lock down a spot for at least a month with both Frost and Dawes out. He needs to bring some real aggression to his game.

so, anyone know dawes's malady?

Calf.

And they have only Dawson out.

Not only are they great, but at full strength, while we are not.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
