Who knew all that "gun shot" practice from Saty would pay off?

Love the fact the Club arranged the Hulk drop by and love that the players are enjoying themselves so much. I would imagine it is a way better place to be an AFL footballer than a couple of years ago

Onwards and upwards

Classic!

Chris Connolly carrying on about Freo making a play for Hogan stuck in my craw - fuelled by massive sour grapes I would think.

You seem surprised? I would be more surprised if the number of other clubs chasing his signature is less than 17. Whilst it's still early days, he is something special alright.

Doesn't come out of contract until the end of 2017, and you can bet like hell that we'd ensure that he sticks around for the entirety of that contract (unlike GWS). When the appropriate time comes, we'll give him a massive offer in both $ and years.

Fear not chook, this one's a stayer!

I'm not surprised or particularly worried but galled by Connolly's seeming delight in stirring up trouble.

This combined with his behaviour when he was with us makes me think he was a white ant in a past life.

i don't agree, he is still a Melbourne man, but of course free will go hard at hogan, it will be a constant struggle to keep him.

Chris Connolly is a chubby cretin whose unprofessionalism nearly brought us to our knees. It's no coincidence we started improving once his incompetent arse was shown the door. He is a suburban level jokester with no AFL level traits, substance, or relevance

Connolly and Schwab - what a comedy duo

As soon as Freo gave them the chop they became an ultra professional club and a perennial top 4 team.

We will follow the same path

I said in all seriousness a while back that he is the no.1 most valuable asset in the comp

We will have to endure a hellofalot more 'noise' from many clubs until he is signed again

then again for his 3rd contract

he's too good

I love what the club is doing with the players ..... They must have loved it. Will the hulk be at the game.

Fremantle will make a play for Jesse every year, he's just that good.

I'm very confident he's a demon at heart now through. And freo are going to be left in tatters by 2017

Both absolute campaigners.

Should not be allowed within 5km near the footy club. It does seem we are going down the same path as Freo.

Oh please He was part of the reason for the Debt Demolition ie saving this club........Spent a huge amount of time organising fund raisers at the Dee's and casey.

He played his football for Melbourne and Coached Freo into the finals for the first time in their history

So please enlighten me that he has no AFL level traits, substance or relevance. Yes he may have made some mistakes(Who hasn't) but he put his heart and soul into the Melbourne Footy Club.

It's so easy to sit behind a keyboard and knock people who have contributed to the club in ways you can only dream of.

You only show your ignorance.

This will be deleted soon, as well as my response, but what a ridiculous thing to say.

You don't know him, and the situation we faced as a club a few years ago cannot simply be laid at the feet of Schwab and CC. They love the club as much as you do.

And that little aside about the 'jokester' tells me you don't have much against him other than a bad joke that was jumped on by some bitter individuals to grind their axes on, that began the investigation into 2009.

Freo will need to trade for him if they want him.

We'll take Fyfe.

Just lock him in for a 10 year deal !

Yeah, nah.

like most things in life the truth probably lies between the two extremes expressed here re Connolly.

He obviously did some good work for the club but I suspect he carries a chip on his shoulder about not being given the coaching gig and I doubt ever fully supported the coaches who were there during his time.

I can't understand him buying in to the Hogan/ Freo thing without there being some angst behind it. He was only stating the obvious after all

If Jesse scores the first goal he should celebrate something like this.

No we won't

If he wants to go they'll need to seek a trade. Who would you want?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
