1443 points against is also, by a very long way, the fewest points we've conceded in a 22-game season.

The previous best was 2018, which was 1749.

Also, not including last year's shortened games, this is the first time we've gone through an entire H&A season without conceding 100 points since 1962.

Win the minor premiership

Win a final outside of Victoria

- Last win: Never (2 games, 2 losses)

Well we got the minor premiership, and ironically will probably have an opportunity to know off the interstate final too!

I think I read that we've play 87 finals at 9 venues, but only won at 4 of those venues. And of those 4 venues, the only one in current use is the MCG. So any finals wins this year will add to those numbers!

largest score kicked against (I think)

Our record of 36.22.238 v Fitzroy in 1979 (I was there ) was eclipsed in 1992 by Geelong's 37.17.239 v Brisbane Bears.

That day at VFL Park remains the highest losing margin of 190 points.  Second is 186.

l was so happy when port took off our record for grand final belting.

Cant really see someone kick 100 a year in today’s standards. It’s more a team effort that wins games

I suspect our average losing margin may well be the lowest we've ever recorded in a H&A season. It was 11.875 points per loss. Or, with a tweak of the language, our average margin in games we didn't win (ie, including the draw) was 9.4 points.

Compare that with Essendon in 2000 where their (ahem) average losing margin was 11 points.

Can't believe in it's entire history Saturday night was the first time a Melb player has kicked a goal after the siren.

Not one of ours, but I have just been advised that the last time Essendon won a final without Sheedy as coach was in the Preliminary Final of 1968 when Jack Clarke was coach.

Just makes me feel better writing that down.

In 2013 anything under a ten goal loss I took as a moral victory. We have come a long way.

Some fine pedantry there 😍

Does anyone know how many other occasions we have had after the siren?

Well this week we know we can break the 21 year drought of winning a prelim final/making a Grand Final.

We can also beat a side for the third time in one season, which will be the first time we've done that I believe since we beat Carlton three times in 1988.

Yeah, Robbie kicked one at VFL Park about R 14 1987 v StK on cold wet Waverley day. Last time I saw him play.
Flew OS on the Monday.
Dees won next 9 straight - until another after siren kick - on TV in UK that night. Before Sky and internet of things

Having won in Round 1 this year, we broke a decade-long record of having not won in the first week of the season.

What other records are in dire need of being broken?

We can actually cross off the last two on this now!

Severe lack of vision from the OP not to include "Win a Prelim" or (shock horror) "Win a Premiership" in their list of embarrassing records.

Praha I hope you are adequately shamed in the next couple of weeks as we go on to do both.

Win an interstate Prelim by 80 points

and

Beat Geelong 3 times in a season

And beat Geelong by the greatest margin in the club's history and in a prelim to boot...

Maybe we can keep this going until we've marked them all off. Maybe then we can feel like the team is moving forward!

Yeah I think they're moving forward now.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
